What made you smile today?

I a strange afternoon walk got abused by a macho ahole and his drunken friend told them to shut up and To F**k off. The walk was ok though and on the way home I met one of the lovely dog walkers and her own dog Nora the lab jr cross. Ive known her and her husband for years he's sadly gone now due to COVID but she's just as nice as ever but really chatty. She came up and asked when did I have my hair straightened it looks great. I had to explain giggling that I haven't it's my chemo but I'm hoping it will go curly again now I'm in the process of coming off it. She just looked at me in disbelief and because I was giggling she started well that was it we both giggled helplessly. The thought of me at the hairdresser's what did for her or with hair straighteners. I talked to her for ages it's was so nice she's so brave I know it's so lonely for her. It was just good to spend so time gossiping and giggling she knows everyone and everything. It was funny we talked about all the old dogs we've had and everyone else's and things that had happened over the years. It's strange but we seemed to measure time in dogs. I told her about the nasty blokes and she told me some bloke called her a ugly badly done drag queen a few weeks ago. You should see her beautiful hair skin and face. We had a good laugh about it. She has that effect I felt better about being called ugly by people I don't care about. She one of those people who always makes me laugh and smile.

There is a new Beagle in town! His name is Chester, he's five months old and his new human is Jonny, who lost the lovely Charlie Beagle a couple of weeks ago. Jonny describes him as a coping mechanism rather than a replacement, in that because of Chester he has to get up and get on with life, which he was finding difficult since Charlie went.Joy and I haven't met him yet but hope to soon. The other good news is that he has raised enough to buy the drone for the area to help in the search for other dogs who go missing. I understand that it's to be called 'Charlie's Angel'. Many thanks to those of you who kindly contributed.

OK, @SwampDonkey I know that the hair thing wasn't the important part of your post, but you know me being obsessed over hair. How did you end up getting STRAIGHT hair from chemo? I went from straight hair to chemo curls that still haven't entirely gone away after 7 flipping years. Did your hair not get the memo that it was supposed to get curlier, not go all straight?! 😂

pee ess I'm glad you had such a nice chat with your friend, sounds like you both needed some commiseration and a good laugh.

The drug altered the Jak2 element enough that it altered the shape of my hair follicles and made some of the curly hair drop out. I've still got a bit of a kink in the longest part which is the oldest hair. I wouldn't recommend it as a hair straightening technique 😉
I'm intrigued to see what happens when I start back on the Peg chemo.

No kidding! When my hair was at it's curliest, people used to tell me how they wished they could get curls like that. I would tell them "Well, you could try chemo!" and laugh. Most people thought that was SO not funny. I guess you kind of have to be there to see the funny side of your hair going all wonky. You have to find something amusing about chemo, right? 😁

A lot of things about cancer are funny if you're in there. I remember being in so much pain in hospital they gave me loads and loads of "stuff" I couldn't stand move or walk. At some point in the very early morning me and another equily stoned patient were having races round the beds and down the corridor of our bay. We were giggling so much, we got chased back to bed by a laughing nurse. I work in the same hospital as my race mate and see her occasionally, we still giggle about it. I can remember laughing but not why really. Loads of funny things have happened I've made great life long friends because of a nasty disease
