It was my gorgeous step grand daughter's thirteenth birthday today. They had a smallish party yesterday afternoon/ early evening for friends her own age and grandmas, grandad, and auntie were invited for coffee and cake at 11.00 thismorning, dogs also welcome. It's a pleasant walk along the towpath for GGJ and me. We can stop off for a ball game in the field on the way there and a swim in the river (strictly on the way back, they have a CLEAN house!) So off we set ,it only takes about an hour and it was a beautiful sunny morning. Joy knew exactly where we were going and was most excited and SO happy to see everyone, but very good, no attempting to get on furniture, greeted everyone and did a lovely Settle when I asked her to..........then Donna, my older stepdaughter arrived, with her lovely dog Blossom, a rescued Lab cross. Joy adores Blossom. We used to go for walks together but Blossom is getting on a bit now and no longer up to the long walks, so we haven't seen her for a while. Both dogs were touchingly pleased to see each other, squeaking and nuzzling and then Joy got the Zoomies! However there wasn't a lot of space, the room being full of Aunties, Grandmas and what have you, all having coffee and cake, so being a Veryvery GoodGirl she did her best to do Sensible Zoomies! This involved the rolling of the eyes, the tucking under of the tail and whole back end and of course the zooming round in circles, but she was doing teeny tiny circles, so small that she would have been chasing her tail had it not been tucked well away. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen and had us all laughing, whereupon she suddenly stopped, looked around her, had a good shake and laid carefully and deliberately down at my feet, as if to say 'Whoops! That was a bit embarrassing!' I'm still smiling now!
