Walking up on the moor thismorning there was a thundering of paws behind us and we were joined by Atlas, a gorgeous black Lab who is now nearly two. He and Joy were having a great chasing game and eventually his person caught up with him, apologising for our walk being hijacked. I said, ' No, it's fine, he's gorgeous, I'm just trying to sort out which is which!' His reply was 'Well, that's easy enough, mine's the big daft goofy one and yours is the small sensible well behaved one'. I told him that we liked big daft and goofy, but I had to smile at his description of Joy. It seems she's known as a GGJ up on the moor as well as on this forum!

Got through a random dog encounter WITHOUT reaction from either dog tonight(well, a little whine from Angel)

We were heading back from Tim Horton's, and I had both dogs on one hand...which is a trick and a half, as I have to arrange it JUST SO to be able to make quick adjustments on either leash if they need guidance. Coffe in the other of course LOL

Round the corner and there are two dogs coming towards us, and one off leash! I see the little one, and hear the owners frantically calling the other behind me. (please go back, please go back) I don't dare look round because if I do, shamas will and that'll be the end of it. So I square my shoulders, turn my wrist left for Shamas' leash and right for Angel's...tell them both to "keep walking" and pretend to ignore the sound of the owners trying to recall the dog

And Shamas DID!

He didn't break step at all! Angel looked back once and whined, and I turned my wrist on her leash, to straighten her head(Halti, gotta love em) while I kept them moving. Told them they were good dogs, and wished I had hands to feed treats, because they deserved one!

It helped that I had Shamas leash run though the safety loop on his muzzle at the time, so he felt each movement--he was on a slip for training, and he'd been pulling. I didn't want him to choke, so I looped the leash in half, and was holding the slip, but also the part the was through his muzzle loop. We're still working on the leash manners, and he's got that bad habit of pulling on the way home from timmies. I'd meant to bring another leash to swap to, but forgot. The new trainer will work with me in my area-so she can help address that. We're trying to sort out a day to book the first session
