Had my girl home yesterday. We had a lovely afternoon, and enjoyed watching a seasonal favourite show together (The Kennedy Center Honours), and today I drove her back to the city and we did some Christmas shopping together. Just so nice to have the time together.

My Canadian friend sent me a couple of traditional Christmas recipes. One of them was "orange salad". First ingredient... marshmallows. And not one fresh ingredient in sight

1 tin mandarin oranges, drained
1 tin pineapple chunks, drained
1 cup shredded coconut
1 container of sour cream

I smiled today when Chewie walked into the baby's room, licked my toes (he is weirdly obsessed with my toes) and then licked Rowan's toes extremely gently. OH's toes are apparently not worthy of licking.

I don't think we can here. Certainly can in the UK - I actually really really like them, but they're nothing like "real" mandarins. I've not had them in years!
We had them every so often as a treat when we were kids. A tin of mandarins and double pouring cream for dessert.

Oooh, I made my mincemeat a couple of weeks ago. It's so tasty, but I forgot to buy filo pastry for making super quick mince pies. Maybe I'll just eat the mincemeat straight from the jar instead
