What a good time GGJ and I had yesterday! The memories are still making me smile today.
We were picked up in the morning by Shelli and her black Lab Buddy in the Buddymobile as Shelli calls it. By 11.30 we were in Clapham, where Nadine lives with Moo, her Bedlington. After coffee and quick catch up we all piled into the Buddymobile for a short drive to the start of our walk. We had a brief discussion about whether it was OK to park where we were, but we couldn't see why not, so we set off walking, all three dogs very excited to be together again and all three hoomans so busy talking that I forgot to take photos! We sat outside a cafe for lunch, then carried on with our circular walk back to the car. As we approached it Shelli said 'Oh no! There's a note on my windscreen!' She took it off, read it and burst out laughing. It said ' Hello Buddy we're having a great holiday and we hope you are too. Lots of love, Lola, Milly and Freddy'! Apparently these are three other Labs who live near to Buddy and Shelli and who they regularly see on walks at home!
Back to Nadine's for tea time for the dogs and cups of tea for us. I took Joy for a short walk by the stream and when we were nearly back she stopped at the door of a very pretty cottage as if she wanted to go in. I said ' No, sorry, we can't go in, it's not our house'. She wouldn't move though, just nudged me with her nose and pulled towards the door again. I said 'Yes, I know it's a very nice house, but we still can't go in'. Then we turned away only to come face to face with three men, one of whom looked ever so much like Alan Bennett! He gave Joy a lovely smile and we went on a few steps until we were back at Nadine's where we found her and Shelli beside themselves with laughter. Apparently they had seen it all through the window. Shelli said 'Only you could come face to face with a World famous writer and completely ignore him to carry on talking to your dog!' 'Oh! ' I said, 'So it was Alan Bennett then? I thought it looked like him! Anyway he was smiling at Joy, not me, so that's her claim to fame!'
A quick change out of dog walking clothes then, and on to a new dog friendly restaurant in nearby Ingleton for an evening meal, accompanied by Buddy and Joy, Moo staying at home. We had a really good meal, the dogs were made welcome and given blankets to lie on, Buddy was a little bit restless ( he has a skin condition, poor lad and we think he was a bit itchy) but my GGJ lived totally up to her name, stretched out on her blanket and slept throughout

Nadine's husband came to collect her and Shelli, the dogs and I headed back for home in the Buddymobile, arriving at about 10pm. Such a good day!
Pee Ess sorry I forgot to take photos and if anyone else is ever near Ingleton and looking for a dog friendly restaurant I would highly recommend The Falls.
