What made you smile today?

Oh, he does suddenly look grown up, doesn't he?
Lovely photo, feels like you can start to see the person he's growing up to be, and it looks like a kind person, with a sense of humour. One to treasure.

I have finally had to give in and admit that my Sciatica is unlikely to get better if I insist on continuing to walk Joy for her usual 1-2 hours every day. Everything I've read says to keep moving but not for more than 15 minutes at a time, so realising that I'm not superhuman and that yes, this advice does apply to me, I have had to ask friends for help.
On Tuesday Joy went for a walk with Shelli ( who she stayed with when I had Covid) and came back happy and tired, yesterday Roberta, her dog sitter took her out for two hours and refused to accept payment, saying she was such a pleasure to walk that she didn't need to be paid, and thismorning Shelli has picked her up again for a day out with herself, a friend and Buddy, who is Shelli's big Black Lab. Shelli has also said today how much she loves having Joy now, she said ' Once you get to know her you see that she's very clever and very funny, it's like she's got a real sense of humour!'
Joy was overjoyed(!) to see both Roberta and Shelli and leapt into the back of the Buddymobile (Shelli's car) with huge enthusiasm just now, with Shelli shouting 'Come on Joy, we're going on another adventure!'
So although I miss her when she's not here I'm smiling now having seen her go off so happily and confidently, also smiling because there are other people who love to have her and who understand the funny, rather cautious, but clever little girl that she is. Also after only two days of resting more than walking my Sciatica is less painful, so with luck I'm heading in the right direction!👍

How fortunate you are to have such good friends who will help out and knowing Joy is so happy must be such a relief for you. Are you having any treatment for the sciatica? I had an acquaintance who went to see a sports physio and he cured her. I hope it goes quickly as it must be so painful.

I'm on pain relief from the GP but am a bit concerned because all this has been carried out via the GP 'E-consult' system, meaning no-one has actually seen me. I have asked for a physio referral and am due for a telephone consultation with a physio tomorrow morning. I think I'm going to try insisting on being seen by someone, be it the physio or the GP. I might be old fashioned but I think that with something like Sciatica you need to be actually looked at. I'm aware that the change in my gait is having a knock on effect on my unaffected leg and would like advice on how to minimise this. I don't think I can really be given the right advice and treatment without being seen. I'm going to have to get my 'perfectly polite but not taking No for an answer ' head on!>:)

@Candy , so sorry that your sciatica is still giving you grief, it's miserable when things curtail the activities that give us pleasure. I agree with you, it's high time someone takes the time for a proper consultation, be it in person or electronically.

How wonderful though, that you have such a great network who can provide such good support for you and Joy.

I have met a lady out on walks lately who has a lovely black Lab, he and Cass are kindred spirits and look like the dream team, I'm hopeful we can be mutually supportive. And now that my daughter has space to call her own I know that Cass can go there if need be, it's very reassuring.

The telephone physios are surprisingly good. It was one of them who put me on the right path with the trapped nerves in my cervical spine. The GP just kept saying ‘age related’ nonsense. I’m very grateful indeed for the online physio and his expert advice.

 and 🤞 for you xx
Thanks for this Mags, it has helped me to feel more optimistic!xxx

I met two lovely doggy folks when out with Ted yesterday. One of them we chatted for about 20 minutes while the dogs played. I hope I meet her again.

I feel in need of an in-person friend.

Another ex-puppy raider who I get on well with online is moving to the village (ooops - town!) in January. But I mustn’t come over as too desperate. I feel like I’m in the dating game in my quest for a friend to have the occasional chat and coffee with!
