What made you smile today?

Coco used to be a steady 32. He went to vets in ?Feb and was 37.5 !! I was aghast and have kept him strictly no titbits and dropped his kibble by 30g a day to 190 - When he went for vaccs a month ago he was.... 38 !

I took Meg in last week and the scales had just been brought back from the repairers while we were there, who had been unable to repair them, so I'm wondering if Coco's weight was incorrect.. 🤞

I'm sure he'd be very happy if they were!

Hugo hasn’t gained any weight since I weighed him for his birthday on July 29th. He’s been steady at 40kg. He will be 14 months old tomorrow… I’m starting to think he’s officially done growing already?! 🤔
Probably, height-wise. Stilton has stabilized (we hope) at small giraffe size, but has definitely got muscle to put on - he’s still brilliantly slimline and teenagerey at around 15 months, I’m thinking his rump and chest will certainly fill out a bit.

I don't care anymore Rory due to his age and inability to exercise has put on weight. He's not a silly weight but to take anymore food off him would be cruel. He gets very little food and low fat snacks. While I appreciate keeping his weight low helps his joints having a hungry dog leads to scavenging with Rory and that's bad for his dodgy tummy. I just want him to be happy. It's hard for him I don't want him to be unhappy and hungry. He's not going to be around much longer and I'm sorry if it goes against the general idea but I value Rory's happiness above everything.

We are exactly the same @SwampDonkey
We are trying to not let her put on anymore weight, but at the same time we can’t cut her food anymore as will go searching instead.

Yes, height wise he hasn’t changed since 10 months, my little shorty :inlove: I guess Axel did take until he was 3 or so years old to be fully filled out. Hugo and Stilton are just lanky teenagers right now 😍 Hugo still has a good amount of loose skin around his chest and waist so surely that will fill in some

This photo was taken 10 years ago - it came up as a memory on my Facebook feed. Sky was about 7. She was such a quiet gentle patient girl and was an excellent Pets as Therapy dog - she loved people (not really interested in other dogs). I’m sure Red would be too but Red loves her walks and meeting her buddies so we don’t have time. Sky and I used to visit a centre for people with visual and hearing impairment and they loved her. One of the staff made a small staircase and she’d climb up it so people in wheelchairs could stroke her

Yesterday evening Joy took ages to settle down, which is most unlike her. She was restless and fidgety and kept biffing me with her paw. I tried letting her out and everything else I could think of, but she was still Not Happy. It's been cooler today and I could see my breath on our morning walk, so thisafternoon I polished the coal scuttle and laid a fire in the stove, thinking it was still a bit early to light it, but I might as well be prepared. Then as it grew darker I decided that I'd light it after all, just to feel cosy and, well.....here we are, one very settled Joy! It makes me smile that she somehow always manages to get her own way, very sweetly!20240929_191837.jpg

The people who looked after her when I was away, both experienced Labrador people said 'She was lovely, very good, and also a little bit....' 'Cheeky?' I asked,......'Bossy?' They said yes! Cheeky, bossy, also very good at getting her own way and a very clear communicator. I could only reply that she bosses me around no end, and I am putty in her paws!:inlove::$

Isn't it lovely how they communicate? I think it reflects the interspecies bond, which is a very special thing.

That's so cute. Ella is a bit like that too. Last night she climbed off the couch, walked over and put her head on my lap to say goodnight before walking off up the hallway to go to bed. I then heard one quiet "woof" so looked up the hallway to see her facing the bedroom door, looking back over her shoulder to me. "oh, sorry Ella, I'd better open the bedroom door for you!" 😆

That sounds like the best policy and one I’d follow if Carbón gets to that age and stage.

She’s what I like to call a benevolent dictator. Yes, bossy, but so sweet that you don’t mind in the slightest.

My friend in Germany’s chihuahua Fine was like that. She was the queen, but she was wise and justified in her preferences so we just went with it, because why not? Now we have Miss Maja however and really see the difference between a benevolent dictator and a stroppy bullying teenage dictator. Still we love her and are hoping for…evolution? 😆
