The Señor got his labs back today and his kidney function looks great as does his thyroid. The vet forgot to do his leishmaniasis test, so they’ll add that in too with results at the end of the week. He was negative last time so I don’t anticipate any issue, just me being a bit obsessed with monitoring everything.
I’m thrilled about the results, especially as Carbón ‘s kidney and purine-friendly homemade diet is somewhat of a guessing game.
Strangely I’m also a little sad that he didn’t show up with anaemia or thyroid issues. Why? Because he’s really slowed down lately and I wanted a ‘quick fix’ reason that had nothing to do with age. As
@kateincornwall can tell you, I’m in full throttle denial about Carbon’s actual age. One reason you never see ‘Happy birthday Carbón’ here on the forum - he doesn’t have a birthday so he’ll be here forever!
But the big picture is great, as a year ago the vet said his kidney values were quite bad. It’s amazing what the food change has done.
