Yes, it is very hard to reconcile with a box or tube of ashes, the vital dogs we loved. Drift is still in a box on my desk, I cannot bear to do anything with it yet. May you find peace in your heart.
Today in my local newspaper, in the memorials, was a photo of a Labrador called Jack, have never seen one to a dog before, there was a little poem to him as well.

Our vet sent a beautiful card and poem when we lost Benson. OH still hasn't been able to bring himself to read it and it had been 7 years. We still have his ashes in an urn

Looking at the ashes is hard at first, it's so...brutal, really. Daisy cat's are in a box directly in front of the tv. The little devil liked to sit directly in front of the tv so it seemed appropriate to keep them there.
the ashes never really interest me its just carbon. I just think about the dog their silliness and happy faces and the good things,. I know a lot of people find that strange. I remember them as they were.

Oscar cat is at the top of the garden, wrapped up in my pink fluffy dressing gown he loved to hump. I say hello to him whenever I peg out washing as the line ends where he is. We have 2 roses either side of him- they were there before he was buried there - and last year they had the most amazing growth spurt which pleased me, i like to think he was helping out.
