The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Best holiday I ever had was in Cape Cornwall in October. I've never seen sunsets like it and every evening, just as the sky was turning orange, a pod of dolphins swam round the corner and put on an incredible show just in front of the Brisons (pair of large rocks).

I'll never forget it, was 27 years ago and my eldest grandson had just been born.

Sorry @Emily_Babbelhund , taking over Carbon's thread here x

I'd love to see some dolphins or seals. I kept looking when I was there, but maybe it was the wrong time of year.

I really fell in love with Cornwall when I was there in November last year: beautiful sunsets as you say and as @HAH says, the beaches nearly to myself. I'll be fine in January, the house is quite cosy even in nasty weather. But a few bright days would be appreciated too. ;)

Are you going to be around in March? Or is that a bit late?
In March I'll be in Spain. I was in Cornwall in March this year, but there were so many storms in a row that I didn't do a lot of cliff walking. Maybe I missed the time window by the time I got out and about.

Or I could just go down to the seal rescue centre and be sure to see some seals. :D

That's a very good plan! I was thinking (probably wildly) of the ferry to the Scillys, which starts in March. It does day trips from Penzance to St Mary's, we've been on it a few times and every time we've been overrun on the crossing by seals, dolphins and basking sharks. It's the most phenomenal opportunity for wildlife watching. But it's pretty expensive, and quite a trip just to get to Penzance :)

That's interesting. I looked into doing a day trip this year, maybe even combining a flight over with the ferry home. They do special rates for day trips which were a good deal for one human but once I added Carbon in, it just became silly. I'll have to pick your brain for next year though. If I planned further ahead - and if Carbon is certified by then - we may be able to swing it. :)

That’d be brilliant. And the planes take dogs too, so it’d be great SD training on a small 15 seater (y)

I LOVED Cornwall in January and February. So quiet, friendly and wonderful. I was talking to J about it the other day and saying we must go back again sometime. It won't be in winter, but we might be able to do an October/November trip, or maybe April/May one year.
I agree, my favourite time has to be winter in Cornwall, followed by very early spring. Things start to wake up, and warm up, but still lovely and quiet :)
