xxIt's the coast guard station at Mother Ivey's Bay. I'd live there too!Lovely. I would love to live in the boat house!xx
although it's hard to imagine that from this brilliant photo.Ooo Fay, don't tell me that! I'm booked in for Cornwall for January and February 2020!Beautiful but I wouldn't be too keen say around January time when the wind whips up a storm and gigantic waves lash inalthough it's hard to imagine that from this brilliant photo.

I’d say winter’s the best time! Spectacular, bracing, a surprising number of sunny days and the beaches all to yourselfAh well now, this Cornish coast can also be very gentle and a lot milder than elsewhere at that time of year too![]()

I'd love to see some dolphins or seals. I kept looking when I was there, but maybe it was the wrong time of year.Best holiday I ever had was in Cape Cornwall in October. I've never seen sunsets like it and every evening, just as the sky was turning orange, a pod of dolphins swam round the corner and put on an incredible show just in front of the Brisons (pair of large rocks).
Are you going to be around in March? Or is that a bit late?I'd love to see some dolphins or seals
In March I'll be in Spain. I was in Cornwall in March this year, but there were so many storms in a row that I didn't do a lot of cliff walking. Maybe I missed the time window by the time I got out and about. Are you going to be around in March? Or is that a bit late?
That's a very good plan! I was thinking (probably wildly) of the ferry to the Scillys, which starts in March. It does day trips from Penzance to St Mary's, we've been on it a few times and every time we've been overrun on the crossing by seals, dolphins and basking sharks. It's the most phenomenal opportunity for wildlife watching. But it's pretty expensive, and quite a trip just to get to PenzanceIn March I'll be in Spain. Or I could just go down to the seal rescue centre and be sure to see some seals.![]()
That's interesting. I looked into doing a day trip this year, maybe even combining a flight over with the ferry home. They do special rates for day trips which were a good deal for one human but once I added Carbon in, it just became silly. I'll have to pick your brain for next year though. If I planned further ahead - and if Carbon is certified by then - we may be able to swing it.I was thinking (probably wildly) of the ferry to the Scillys, which starts in March. That’d be brilliant. And the planes take dogs too, so it’d be great SD training on a small 15 seaterThat's interesting. I agree, my favourite time has to be winter in Cornwall, followed by very early spring. Things start to wake up, and warm up, but still lovely and quietI LOVED Cornwall in January and February. So quiet, friendly and wonderful. I was talking to J about it the other day and saying we must go back again sometime. It won't be in winter, but we might be able to do an October/November trip, or maybe April/May one year.
