Introducing Jacob

I feel such an idiot about the name thing. I was convinced something would stick when we got him. Can i just call him puppy? That's working out so far😂
'Oh for god sake' worked well as a name for mine when they were puppies  .

Although I did have a cat once who spent her whole life called 'Fingy' when we couldn’t think of a name for her (the vets were most amused).

Today we are trying out Bear. Geoff agrees with me that Jacob isn't right for him, it's a lovely name but it just isn't a fit for him.

We had a much better night, I waited until he was asleep next to me on the sofa, then carried him into his pen. I put on radio 3 quietly, and left the low extractor fan light on. Stroked his head for a bit, then he moved into his crate of his own accord. Left it another five minutes and went to bed around 10.45. Heard nothing through the night, (though I did keep waking up, annoyingly, checking for noise) and when I went down around 6.30, he was still curled up asleep in his crate. Took a couple of minutes of me letting Monty out and putting the kettle on before he woke up properly. Just one big wee mostly on the pads, yay!

We are aiming for him having 16 to 18 hours sleep as recommended. Any thoughts on what the optimum nap length/ awake time is? Based on yesterday and this morning, he's awake for about an hour and a half to two hours, then sleeps for an hour or just under. Should naps be longer than an hour in the daytime?

Thanks x

I'd let him guide you. All puppies are different. You'll know when he needs a nap and hasn't worked it out for himself, because he'll be a little sod :D

I’d just let him do what he wants to do to be honest. Follow his lead.

This is from my baby by the way, I can’t even remember what Stanley slept like through the day. I’ve probably blocked it of 😣

I love the name Bear for a choccie, well we had one for a few months, so I am biased, and whilst we had the option to change it, we never did. Looking at your pupper, and knowing his parents, yup, he is going to grow into a bear pretty soon! I also LOVE the name Baloo. I know a choc called Baloo, and he is such a gorgeous hunk!

One of Quinn's BFFs is a black lab X named Bear. We also had a really hard time deciding then agreeing on a name and we actually did a test last night...Quinn will respond to literally any word that is said in the same tone as we usually call her, so maybe names aren't even important :ROFLMAO:
