Weather

Am I the only one enjoying the English heatwave? I suppose I'm lucky to be within a mile of the sea so I've been popping down for a swim every day. A few days ago it was very humid but today we have blue skies and a gentle breeze and it's glorious! Too hot to sit in the sun but lovely in the shade in the garden. Molly just has an early walk and a wallow in the river in the evenings.
I do too, even if it is only in the shade- (though I do like half an hour on a deckchair to try and remove some of my paleness!) My problem is working in it - it just saps your ability to concentrate. I find mornings ok, my study is relatively cool, and i sometimes work outside on the patio in the shade first thing, while everything is still bearable and as long as my laptop charge lasts. The afternoons I find the worst, the sun shines directly into the study and the curtains are as thin as anything. I often work in the evenings to catch up, like tonight but by then just find all I want to do is relax and unwind with tV or a book. I'd be no better in my actual office - there's no aircon there, and at least at home I can soak my feet in cold water and wear completely inappropriate clothes!

Lots of thunder rumbling around here now, hopefully we will get some rain to take the mugginess out of the air.

I'll take your heatwave please! I have the heater on behind me whilst working. It's actually quite lovely outside - sunny and 18 - but inside it's cold. I love the heat but I admit I prefer to be beside some form of water to dip in when it is really hot. I'm envious of you @Joy

Same here - it’s so humid. Yesterday was horrible: too hot in the garden, but also over 26 in the sitting room, which is on the cool side of the house. i couldn’t open the windows because it was even hotter outside, so it was an effort to do anything. Just need some rain to clear the air and temperatures between 21-25 maximum would be nice!

My little study is made of stone and north facing, so stays quite cool thank jiminy. In winter I wear gloves and a scarf with a rug over my knees, but that feels a way off at the moment!
Quite enjoying the heat although would rather be outside than squirreled away working. Loving early morning (v short) dog walks.

How is work going @HAH , any news on the job front?

Thanks @Natalie ;) - I’ve got something for 9 months which is v welcome for keeping us in kibble but also ridiculous work running a clinical trial when I’ve never done anything like it before. 100mph ride at the moment, not sure I’ll last.
so is this a completely new job, or an extension of your old one? well done, whichever it is!

It’s still extremely humid here. Harley and I are sat in the garden as it’s cooler than the house with all the ceiling fans on! We kept the living room and dining room blinds closed until late afternoon as the sun it’s sooo hot and I’m working in there. needed lots of short breaks to keep hydrated. Harley is really struggling even with 3 cool mats 😢
