The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Amigos! Our travel schedule for the end of the month is all set! It even includes a mystery guest (or two). Here are our nightly stops.

Ja ja, I am such a jokester! Claro qui si, but of course I had fun on our walks today. First with all the nice people who tell me I am handsome and give me food, then at Port Isaac, where ML and I walked around in the fog and smelled fishes and hiked up and down the hillside. You do not believe me because of my Resting Face of Misery Blue Steel modelling pose? Just look at my tail wag! Also there are some guest star seagulls. Que bien!

ML says we saw sea lions and seals today. I did not see ANYTHING. I do not know WHAT she is talking about. She took lots of pictures of swimming pools that I was not allowed to swim in and gave me lots of treats for not saying "Hola!" to other dogs (that was pretty bueno for me, I must say).

I did not get a bandana because they did not have any. I was a little sad about that, but ML says it only means that Oreo is better dressed than me and that is OK because she is a beautiful señorita and we must let the señoritas be more beautiful - it is part of being a gentleman.

But I still did not see any seals. Where oh where were they? It is a mystery!

Señor Carbòn, I think I have also visited the same places as you have. You may remember a wistful three years ago when we were both a little younger, but just as wise, you visited us close to Porthleven and we had a treacherous walk in torrential rain down to a beach where the only cover was in a church. There may have been something to do with Poldark, but you and I know we were the handsome boys on the beach that day. We ended the journey in matching dressing gowns, sharing a sofa while the minions camped elsewhere. My ML also distinctly remembers the trip to the Seal sanctuary, which was on her 40th birthday. She, I think was hoping for something a little more eventful, or at least a day when it did not do 'wet from above.... ' she laments the fact that in TWO WHOLE WEEKS IN JUNE only 3.5 days were dry and that only 1.5 of those days were actually warm-ish, not that she was counting, though, despite being a special birthday and ALL THAT. There are no noteworthy photos from the seal sanctuary visit, because, as mentioned, it was wet from above and the seals appeared to be sheltering from the wet. So I barked at them, naturally. Indicating my displeasure at the lack of attention on me. I'll leave you with some photos of us looking like distinguished Spanish and English gentlemen, and I apologise for her flagrant use of Caps Lock in this message 🤣

Hola Señor Monty, mi amigo! I am a little sad that we have not seen each other in so long - ML has disappointed me in this - but it is so good to see photos of our younger selves looking so dashing in our matching coats. That was a day! Very rainy and very close to the cliff edges, before I was a true Cornishman who is now used to cliff edges and impossible stiles. I can see why your family has not come to Cornwall again if you got rained on so much. That is a lot of rain!

Between you and me, I do not think there ARE any seals to see at the seal sanctuary, wet from above or not. So truly, you did not miss much. Except maybe you missed the nice man in the gift shop who gives out dog biscuits? That was the highlight of the visit, de verdad. ML seemed to like it, but then again she likes staring at empty water, so there you are.

I did not realise your house was near Porthleven. I hope you at least got to eat some of that tasty-smelling food that was all over town?

Do you fancy meeting in Spain this June? We have a house with enough rooms and I think there will be lots of sun for your ML. I am looking forward to seeing my homeland, but I miss my dog friends and the days that we used to drive around seeing them. My ML and I need to have a talk about how she is operating the TARDIS!

Muchos besitos from your amigo,

Carbón

We were on the beach last night when we saw a dead little fish on a big rock. ML gets kind of sad about these things, so looked at the little fish and said, "Oh, poor little guy to die out of the water like that."

I looked at the fish too. Then I reached over with my big mouth and swallowed it in one gulp. Que rico, how delicious this little fish!

ML did not really talk to me after that, she just kept shaking her head and muttering about "disgusting dogs". Who could she have been thinking about? Not me! I am perfect, yes I am!
