    Big boys

Snowie’s changed size from time to time. Sometimes seemed very tight in their skin. I wonder whether it had anything to do with his enlarged prostate? Apparently the prostate can enlarge when encountering a bitch in season, but I don’t know about balls. They’ve completely shrunken now with the...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Is it puppy play biting or actual nasty biting? It all sounds sooo exhausting. Really sorry you had such a disrupted night. I hope Carbon is okay? What was the blood drawing for? At least the bandage matches the bandanna. Something to be thankful for! 😊

    The Nullarbor

The insta-vomit is apomorphine. You must have an antiemetic to give, otherwise the vomiting won’t stop. I very much doubt a vet will give you these meds. I was was just reading up on them because Snowie ate drug-laced poo in the forest and had an emergency vet visit a couple of weeks ago, where...

    Stanley

Perhaps have him checked at the vet. Last year we thought Snowie was getting old very quickly. Turns out he had an enlarged and infected prostate, very painful. Treated, and immediately back to being youthful again. Best of luck xxx

    ?Infection

I can understand how anxious you must feel. I, too, get in an absolute state. Tomorrow’s appointment can’t come quick enough. I hope the surgeon can give you some good options to help poor Harley. Hopefully the extra pain meds will be already be helping this evening. Thinking of you xxx

    Not the best day……

Argh I get annoyed with myself for not being direct and saying “I’m worried your dog will attack Snowie.” Instead, by saying “the dynamic”, I feel I’m sharing blame on Snowie and I get annoyed with myself. And he’s so NOT part of it at all. In fact, he doesn’t even respond, just backs away. He’s...

    Not the best day……

So sorry this happened to Red, and in her own garden. I have a friend with a similar situation. Not so much resource guarding, but just an aggressive dog. He’s a miniature schnauzer with a big attitude. And he always goes for Snowie. He can’t do any major physical damage, but it’s so...

    The Nullarbor

Snowie now wears towelling baby socks when we go out cos of his sensitive skin between the pads. Front paws only. No need to get used them cos they fit snugly. We use masking tape like a garter around his ankles to keep them from slipping off. Perhaps you can do this? Cheap and easy, especially...

    The Nullarbor

Wow, that’s a lot of driving! A colleague did it alone about 25 years ago. He bought an old classic car and fixed it up, and then did the drive. Took the train back to Sydney. Car came back on the train. Sounded like the most amazing adventure. I’d love to do the train journey one day. I’m sorry...

    The Vets

Oh, they learn very quickly when food is involved! Snowie won’t go outside for his bedtime wee unless he’s paid upfront with a nib of butter!

    The Vets

Snowie also used to vomit every now and then in the early hours. So we also started feeding him a snack before bedtime. The vomits didn’t stop entirely. Then we stopped all tick, flea, and worming meds, and no more vomits. Also no more seizures after stopping them (he was treated as an epileptic...

    Rourke Rest in Peace

@Jelinga and @JES72 thinking of you both. Those little automatic gestures are so painful when the recipient is no longer there. xxx
