    Retrieving

@Cath. Great article thank you. @Selina27 I think that might be a good plan Selina. So far he hasn’t actually taken anyone out but……..:tmi::rofl:

    Retrieving

@Selina27 and @Atemas thank you both very much. I think your right less is more is the way to go. I just want Hunter to retrieve for fun so I guess it doesn’t really matter how long it takes as long as he’s enjoying it. What Hunter really loves is racing round with something he thinks he’s...

    Retrieving

I thought I’d cracked it but apparently not. Hunter grasped the concept of retrieving awhile ago but keeping his attention on the job in hand was difficult. I tried different things balls, toys, kongs etc. He’d do a few good retrieves then get distracted by a stick, smell, rabbit muck...

    ?Infection

@Naya that’s brilliant news. Every day I’ve had a quick look first thing to see if you’ve posted any news on Harley’s test results. I was so happy to see your post this morning and that it’s all looking so positive. Harley’s impressive recovery after the op just shows how well you and your OH...

I’m so glad the op went well @Naya. How did you get on last night ? I hope you all got some sleep. Keeping everything crossed for the test results and an easy recovery for Harley and you.

    ?Infection

I think it’s a very good idea to use the sling now and get Harley used to it before the op and I’m sure it will be helping to ease the pain while she’s walking now. I’ve got everything crossed for you a Harley

    Hunter

It’s Hunter’s birthday today !!! I can’t believe it’s gone so quickly. While Hunter does have his moments I think I’ve dropped on lucky with this one, well so far anyway :fingers: He has developed some occasional selective deafness and does sometimes test the boundaries but having said that he...

    ?Infection

I really am so sorry your going through this @Naya. Obviously the vet can’t give much advice on quality/quantity of life until after the biopsy but I would be asking from the scan/X-ray if there is any suggestion of what type of tumour it could be or how advanced it is. My friend‘s dog had bone...

    Tess at Cheltenham

    ?Infection

@Naya I’m so sorry your all in this very difficult position of trying to work out what’s best for Harley. It does sound like you have very caring, understanding vets and hopefully if they didn’t think the operation was worth doing they wouldn’t put Harley through it. Sorry if I’ve missed this...

    ?Infection

I’m so sorry @Naya . It really is a lot to take in. When I suggested a torn achilles I didn’t think it was actually going to be because you would expect from a thorough examination, X-ray etc that would be obvious. I suppose if it started as a partial rupture it could be missed and as @M.F...
  14. Jennifer

    ?Infection

I know it can’t be this because I’m sure your vet would’ve ruled it out straight away as I’m assuming it would be obvious on the X-ray so this is probably of no help it’s just when I read your description of Harley’s hock being almost on the ground when she walks plus the lump it sounded like...

    Such a crying shame

Poor Reuban. I’m sorry this happened to Reuban Kate and you. Even if you’d insisted on staying with Reuban my guess is it still would’ve happened due to the infection and a rough handed young, inexperienced vet so don’t blame yourself for that. With all your experience with dogs I know you know...

    ?Infection

@Naya I’m glad Harley is feeling a bit better today. I’ve just caught up and I’m so sorry your going through all this worry. The wait is just horrible for you all. I do hope the results come back soon and with a good result.

    Lifespan

Poor Hamish and such a shock for your friends. A similar thing happened to my sister’s cocker a few months ago. Murphy got to15. Scott 8 kidney failure. Scout 12 laryngeal paralysis. When you stop and think about it you could wonder why on earth we put ourselves through it over again but then...

    Homer being sick

@JES72 I am so very sorry about Homer. As has already been said by everyone you did all you could for Homer and then some. He had a fabulous life with you and you with him.

    Inconsistent reaction

@Beanwood your right it is a tricky time. So if he’s unsure would you move him away a bit and give him more space rather than encourage him to make friends ? As I’m writing that I’m thinking yes that’s probably the right thing to do while he’s going through this particular development phase. If...
