    Hoopers

Not yet. Her season seems to be lingering and reluctant to end. It's been nearly two months now so it may be time for a visit to the vet.

    What made you smile today?

Earlier today we were in a small indoor shopping centre with Jazz. I sat down with Jazz while Ruth went off to look at some clothes. As Jazz lost sight of Ruth she whined, whimpered and generally created. She made such a pitiful racket that people came out the two nearest shops to see what the...

    Hoopers

Anything that can exhaust a Lab must be serious exercise. We’ve been looking at Hoopers for Jazz. There’s a trainer in Wormelow who does it so we’re going to try it out. It could be just what Jazz needs to occupy her brain and focus all her energy. All tips gratefully received!

    What made you smile today?

Jazz has enjoyed her first birthday. A lovely walk in the woods, nice treats, ‘helping‘ Ruth in the garden, and she’s now settled down to watch Crufts.

    What made you smile today?

    What made you smile today?

Today Jazz met her pal Ruby at the park. Today they had a huge play fight with lots of growling, chasing, rolling and jumping. It was lovely to see them having so much fun.

    What made you smile today?

Walking around the park today we met a young couple with a puppy called Rosie. They described it as 'Lab/mutt cross' but it showed a lot of Lab in its build. It was only 13 weeks old and was on its very first walk. After formal introductions and sniffs the two puppies played gently together...

    What made you smile today?

My BIL arrived today while I was out walking Jazz. When we got home she she was so pleased to see him she leapt over the arm of the settee and landed on him. It's a good thing she's a 6.5kg Cockapoo and not a 30kg Labrador!

    ?Infection

Remembering the funny things dogs do has helped Ruth and I a lot over the years. We still miss Holly, Cocoa and other dogs we've owned but we remember them as they were. We can't go past a puddle in the woods without imagining Holly zooming through it. When Jazz stops for a long sniff at a...

    Beechenhurst Cafe

Some good news for those living near the Forest of Dean. The cafe at Beechenhurst has been refurbished and reopened this week. Best of all its now dog friendly. We tried it out today and the food is just as good as before. The room on the right of the counter is for dogs. They’ve put a wood...

    Doggy brags

Jazz finished her puppy training last night. At the start she was hard work as she just wanted to sniff the floor and play with the other dogs. As the course progressed her focus improved and she started to pay attention. At the last session she did a great recall with other dogs and food as...

    What made you smile today?

Stolen from a Cockapoo forum: Q. Should I get a Cockapoo? A. Throw a grenade into your house. If you like the result get a Cockapoo. It could also apply to Labrador pups.

    Conversations with our dogs

Sometimes talking to our dogs gets a better response than talking to humans.

    Meet Jazz

She is tiny. That doesn't prevent her from flattening plants in the garden.
