    Barking in his crate.

That’s probably the first thing to establish, whether it’s being in the crate or separation anxiety. Does he seem distressed if you leave him outside of the crate? We struggled with crate training with Kipper and persevered far too long with it because we thought it was what you had to do. Do...

    Mr Stanley Blue

Classic baby puppy move! The sleeping is a blessing, hussah for that and long may it continue.

    Weather

Yes, it doesn’t get above 5 degrees here for the next 5 days, with a very brisk easterly keeping things fresh! I’m glad we got another log delivery today, stacking this lot kept me warm :D

    Stilton’s limping

Thank you! He’s bouncing back remarkably well. He’s now comfortable again with us stroking his injured leg, and is back to doing his full stretches where he extends both back legs behind him and points his toes. So far he’s also adjusting really well to reduced exercise - he doesn’t like to poo...

    It's a boy!! (Welcome ODIN)

Oh no, sorry - I didn’t mean you were! I was trying to say (poorly!) that with puppies we’re often told to focus on All The Things and it can be overwhelming.

    It's a boy!! (Welcome ODIN)

I agree with others on his weight - if he looks good (not thin with all ribs/backbone pronounced) and isn't constantly hungry, go with your instincts - there's a lot of physical change in puppyhood, and I don't think it's helpful to over-monitor body condition if they're not clearly over or...

    Stilton’s limping

The lambies worked! Thanks everyone. Quick update, good news - the vet did a full assesment of the range of motion Stilton has in his back legs, checked his spine and watched him moving. She agreed that he seems substantially improved since Saturday, so we're hopeful it is soft tissue damage...

    Stilton’s limping

Thank you! We have a vet visit tomorrow (Monday) first thing, where they’ll assess him and decide what next. The message was that unless he’s much better, they’ll xray to see what they’re dealing with. We’re keeping everything crossed as he does seem quite a bit better - but we’ll see first...

    Stilton’s limping

One thing I was worried about was getting him to take this morning’s loxicom. He’s not a gobbler of food like many labs are, and any changes make him suspicious. But he does love my favourite breakfast, overnight oats. So I made him up a simple portion - rolled oats and milk, left to steep for...

    Stilton’s limping

Thanks @Emily and @Candy for your experiences, it’s useful to hear these. And thanks all for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely day despite poor Stilton’s injury, and was spoiled rotten. The boy is feeling full of beans today and keeps trying to chase his tail (aargh!), jump around (aargh!)...

    Stilton’s limping

Thanks all. He’s feeling a lot better already, he’s had something to eat and is wagging again🥰

    Stilton’s limping

We’ve just seen the vet who suspects cruciate too, so she’s given him an injection and we’ve got loxicom until Monday when they’ll see him again and decide whether to xray. Suspicion is it’s not a complete rupture which is better then it might have been, glad he’s got some drugs now so just...

    Stilton’s limping

Yes, I’ve done a full MOT and it’s looking like cruciate but we’ll suspend judgement until we see a pro this morning (our local practice is open Saturday mornings). Poor little sausage is struggling :(

    Stilton’s limping

Poor little squeaker just tried to get up and is holding it up completely now, definitely vets first thing (12:45 am here). I hope it’s nothing major but he needs pain killers and NSAIDs.

    Stilton’s limping

Poor baby has hurt his back right leg, he’s been uncharacteristically quiet and sleepy all day, didn’t want any lunch, so we initially thought he was feeling sick. But he went into the garden earlier this evening, and I noticed he was limping slightly on his rear right and not really weight...

    What made you smile today?

That’s terribly smart! What a great find, we’re looking for similar for Stilton so excellent to see such a stunning model :inlove:

    To neuter or not

The other thing to bear in mind with dog-dog interactions as you mention (we’re sensitive to this too, and sorry if you know all of this!) is that their male sex hormones surge during adolescence, which may be where reactivity from other dogs such as increased aggression is more common -...

That’s beautiful, Naya. I love how natural it looks - she really is always with you x

    To neuter or not

I talked to our vet about this today re. Stilton, and did a lot of reading up when we were considering getting Kipper castrated so have some thoughts. The main reason we didn’t get Kipper done was because of temperament. He’s cautious by nature, and drastically reducing his testosterone and...
