Doggy brags

I was up at the crack of dawn, again due to Reuben having an upset tummy , I thought it was better yesterday but its still not right , nowhere near as bad as it was though . I decided to take him for an onlead walk round the village for a change, something more gentle and he was brilliant . There was a slight pulling to start with but this settled into a fairly good effort on his part . It was ideal as the farmers are flying around with tractors and trailers , took all this in his stride like a star, but I did make sure I was back home before the school children began to appear , that would have been overload for him !

Y'know that saying....Dogs have an instinct for people who don't LIKE them? :giggl: Hold that thought......

Otter has been in the wars poor thing...more on that later. Anyhow it has meant that for good reason, her normal trepidation towards hoomans has been amplified somewhat.

Soo "Help Otter feel comfortable with hoomans" plan started gently today.

Air conditioning man turns up to look at my car...excellent! Whilst he is chatting to @Mr Beanwood, I arm myself with treats and head out the front door. In the time it took me to hunt down treats and stuff my pockets, he had gotten down and slid partway under the car. Okayy.....still with a happy trill I say...hi you don't mind puppies do you? Expecting Otter to stay some distance and eye him with grave distrust, and him to smile at said cute choccy puppy.

Will obviously that didn't happen.

Air conditioning man lets out a pathetic shriek...as Otter pounces on him with a manic grin, needle-like baby teeth bared for action...

All I could say was....."Would you like a cup of tea?"

I am putting this here as for once I am happy that Otter acted like a hooligan :)

I always find is so weird when people don’t like dogs. Like I literally judge them instantly like hmmm 🤨

I get people aren’t baby lovers and I understand that, but as soon as someone doesn’t buzz over Stanley I’m like I can tell you’re not my kind of person ✋🏻

There's a not liking animals gene they've discovered. Well not not liking they think genetically some people are prediposed to like animals. Might be rubbish though 😁 we have a very nice person in the office who is allergic to dogs mmmmm yeah right. They scared her really and she thinks they are dirty I have observed her at some length she has irrational rears about them and thinks no one should keep pets and they should he released into the wild so that they can make their own way then quoted darwin:rofl: I could have given a rational arguement but what would be the point. She thinks animals should be looked after if they are serving her or she can eat them. The idea that animals are only here to he used by humans is alive and well.

There are some strange people in the world aren't there? .
Oh yes. There was a women I encountered frequently at the Hospice, she must have been in her early 70's and would put this terrified expression on her face when she saw Hattie. I knew she was "frightened" of dogs so would always give her a wide berth. I asked her why she was "frightened" she said a dog jumped up at her when she was 18 MONTHS old. Give me a break, who on earth would be able to remember anything at that age. I really just didn't believe her "fears" and after I while I think she liked making our encounter with her difficult for attention. Call my cynical! xx

Yes, some people are so very over the top. I find a lot of people here see a "big black dog" (he is really a medium black dog) and freak out. I have even had people yank their kids away, while Chewie is on lead and totally under control.

I mean, I understand if like my aunt, you had been attacked by dogs previously, that you would be afraid, but otherwise I just don't get it.

I didn't grow up around dogs but have spent the last 30 years with a dog shaped hole in my life. I'm so glad it has finally been filled! So maybe there is something innate to it?

I was a bit afraid of dogs because I'd never had one. I grew up with cats. Hubby always had a dog growing up. So when we bought our house and he said he wanted one I said 'thats fine but I won't have anything to do with it'
Well....
He brought home baby Benson and I took one look and said 'give him to me. NOW'. Instant love at first sight and as he grew and bonded I became a dog lover. :inlove:

OH's 18 year old niece has grown up with dogs ALL HER LIFE, but you should have seen the hysterics she had when we were there with Meg the other week. She left in tears saying she "can't stay in the same house as it". IT ?? She was nearly as bad when we first got Coco "Oh I HATE German Shepherds I can't be near him. He looks evil" She has never been attacked by any dog. She is a silly, attention-seeking girl.

The lady next door to us is frightened of dogs. She just is. I understand that.
