Doggy brags

I was a bit afraid of dogs because I'd never had one. I grew up with cats. Hubby always had a dog growing up. So when we bought our house and he said he wanted one I said 'thats fine but I won't have anything to do with it'
Well....
He brought home baby Benson and I took one look and said 'give him to me. NOW'. Instant love at first sight and as he grew and bonded I became a dog lover. :inlove:
My mum is a bit like that. She is awkward with dogs because they are new to her, but now she is a bit of a Chewie fan. She lets him get away with murder.

@edzbird, I have a nephew who is the same. He I primary school aged and worships my OH, so I think in his case it might be jealousy though. Will be interesting to see how he goes with our bald puppy!

My mam is a bit scared of dogs but she’s not OTT about it.

She adores Stanley though. She always laughs and says if you’d told her 3 years ago a dog that size would be in her house all the time she’d laugh and tell you to dream on, but he loves his Nanna.

I just don’t know what they use the internet for if it’s not for cute dog pics and videos 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a bitch who was colour prejudiced. I kid you not! Every single time she saw a black person she would leap around shouting. She had never been trained to do it but it took an awful amount of work and the help of some black friends to train it out of her. It doesn't help that a lot of different cultures shriek at the sight of a black dog and will yank their children away from dogs thus instilling more fear in the next generation.

@Aitch one of mine was colour prejudiced as well and as I am not in the slightest I found it difficult to understand. I think it is because they have a different body odour, so their dogs would be prejudiced against us, until they realised we are all the same.

Stanley has taken to being a big brother so well.

I’m so pleased with him.

He generally leaves Rory be but will have the occasional sniff - especially if there’s a full nappy or some spit up.

When I get up through the night for the feeds he just stays in his bed, and he never complains that his walks are sometimes later or shorter.

I’m so proud of him. We’ve been so lucky to get such a laid back flexible dog ❤

Very proud of our boy today . He has had a bit of an iffy tummy recently , so its been rice, fish or chappie and fairly short walks , but this afternoon we went on a longer one, me ,Nelly , Reubs and my elder grandson . We walked along a fairly narrow bridle path which leads to a river, as usual Reubs was ahead in anticipation for some watery ball play . Looking back , a man on a bike approaching pretty quickly and wearing a hat ( Reuben is afraid of men in hats since a horrid hat man shook his stick at him ). I whistled and to our surprise , as the man rode by , Reubs just glanced at him and then came happily trotting back to us, good boy , he deserved his fishy treat xx

First morning run in a long time (not sleeping well is not conducive to getting up early enough to go out before it gets too hot) and I took the boy. We saw three bunnies. The first at a distance of about 20m, I wasn't sure if S saw it, but anyway I marked "YES" and chucked the ball. Second rabbit about 15m, he definitely saw it and deliberately turned back to me... "YES!" and ball. The third one was no more than three metres from his nose, ran straight across in front of him, and he just ignored it. Looked in a very disinterested way, and didn't even do an auto turn back to me for the ball! He wasn't even in the middle of an amazing smell or anything, he was just mooching. I still marked and threw the ball, of course, but I was astounded - and overjoyed - at the total lack of interest in it. Hurrah!

Carbon and I were limping along on our morning wee/training walk - or rather I was limping and he was gamely at my side - when a car pulled up to me and a man sticks his head out the window. "Blah de blah de blah dog blah", he says in German. As I was sure that is NOT what he actually said, I came back with, "Pardon me?". Then he says more slowly so that I could understand: "If I could have such a good dog as that, I'd get myself a dog." Then he waved, smiled and drove on.

That just put a smile on my face, not only because I was proud of Carbon, but because I used to hear that a lot when out with Brogan. I guess our Carbon is starting to look like a proper service dog these days.

Of course six steps later, Carbon discreetly tried to lick crumbs off the cobblestones in front of the bakery. To tell the truth, I would have been a tad disappointed if he hadn't. The important thing is that "Leave it" was followed by his head coming up and him putting himself into 'start' position next to my left crutch. A sure-thing sausage in the mouth is worth more than a potential bread crumb stuck between cobblestones.

Smart boy, Señor Carboncito. :inlove:
