Doggy brags

Well thanks both but think this is one of those that should never have happened in the first place, I blame OH for winding him up with the hose and me for standing back for 5 years and letting it happen!

J: "They only mess around with the hose with you. You wind them up."
Me: *pointed stare*
J: "OK, well I only did it a few times...."

:cwl:

I don't mind them playing with it, as long as I have a certain amount of control so I can get on with the watering if I need to!

I took Homer with me to visit my in laws today. First time just me and Homer without hubby, I’ve visited on my own before , when we take Homer hubby has to take responsibility for him as hubby’s father definitely does not like dogs. He visibly flinches if Homer brushes past him. He’s 93 so the best I can expect is acceptance and will never expect to win him over.

Homer was perfectly behaved even though I didn’t feed him tidbits all the way through lunch as hubby does. Homer was a star and got special points for sitting and waiting without moving when I went to the loo.

Well done Homer and @JES72 and Monty and @Natalie

@JES72 my Dad is 93 and comes over every week. He has always hated dogs but over the 18 months that we have had Maxx he has slowly, slowly started to relent. At first he would flinch and move his hands and body away if Maxx even came close; but the last couple of months he has relented and even reached out and patted him. Maxx is so incredible calm and gentle with him and doesn't jump up - the same he is with young kids and small dogs. A whole other story with every other adult but I just love how our dogs can sense what they need to do when it is really important

Yesterday we were about to walk up the little lane from the station to go home, when a couple got off the bus at the top. I said I didn't want to manhandle Meg past them so we waited. I thought they'd be coming down to the station as the was a train due any minute and there's no other reason to get off a bus there (except for 2 houses). We waited. We waited. They were just loitering. Nothing for it but to try & pass them. I made OH promise to stay between me & the strangers. We got to the top and they started "excuse me....." They wanted directions to the agricultural show - a good 2 miles away. English wasn't their first language so we had a job explaining & understanding and all the time my stranger-hating/fearing, unpredictable little black & white dog just sat there patiently. Not a peep from her. She earned a good few pieces of fishy kibble for that.

Not sure if this is exactly a brag, but....we had a guy come to our house today to measure our windows and give us a quote for replacement. Simba does his friendly greeting and is of course the guy's best friend, leaning up against him. The guy is leaning over, stroking him along the body and Simba has his nose up, to sniff him as the guy leans down. He then rubs under Simba's chin. All this is fine, Simba generally likes this kind of thing so no prob. Then the guy decides he has to blow up Simba's nose.

Well, I'm sure with the position that Simba was in (basically feeling like he was being restrained) and having him blow up his nose, this brought unpleasant memories of the dreaded kennel cough vaccine (administered up the nose) for the pooch. Honestly the guy is lucky he didn't get his face ripped off....but Simba growled and moved away, and that was it.

Now that might not seem like a brag, like I said, but to me, knowing his temperament and how he hates to be handled in some situation, and how he hates the kennel cough vaccine, this was a win. Seriously, fella, would YOU like someone to blow up YOUR nose?

I'm sorry what? He blew up Simba's nose? What? As you can see I'm speechless.

What did you say to him? I would have blasted him then told him to take his quote and shove it where the sun don't shine

But bless lovely Simba for not reacting any more than growl and moving away.
