UK Tour Guide
This afternoon we had a carpet company guy come to measure up and quote for us. First time anyone has been in our house since mid March. Just before he came, I gave Red a kong in the kitchen and shut the door. She did a little woof when the bell rang but not a peep from her for 50 minutes. When I went in, she was just sitting in her bedtime bed in the utility. I felt such love for her. I’m sure some dogs would make a huge fuss knowing something was going on the other side of the door but not her

(The carpet man was in a visor and we did the whole thing suitably distanced. it all seemed natural but weird. He was well briefed on safety and I thought it a very business like and professional visit. We have ordered 😊)

That's really good of her! I usually leash Shamas when workmen come in, so he can watch from a safe distance. I think he'd have a meltdown if I left him in another room! On a leash though, he's quietly observant and just plays shy if they try to get close.

Maxx turns into a leaping, barking, howling, lurching lunatic even if someone comes to the front door. We had a small upright freezer delivered today and the delivery man kindly helped carry it up the back stairs and into the backyard. Maxx practically turned himself inside out trying to get out and meet the new friend. It's all tail wagging madly and friendly; he just has FOMO and wants everyone to experience the Maxx friend experience

I try LAT, streaming treats that both work for a few seconds. I'm working on increasing those few seconds to longer intervals. But we hardly ever have anyone over - apart from my Dad who comes each Monday at least. Maxx is now very calm with him.

Chewie is pretty similar if the person is coming inside. He doesn't generally bother with couriers or the postie as I think he knows they turn up then leave but if we have a tradie or someone coming inside they might be his NEW BEST FREN!!!

Shamas ignored Tiko for the first time ever. we had him out whilst we BBQ'd and I heard the next door open...I started crooning "good boy, be a good boy" at Shamas, and leaned down to be ready with a hand on his collar. He had a dental bone at the time, and put all of his excitement into the bone, rather than lunging at the fence when Tiko barked at him.
