Doggy brags

It really is!! Right now, Bob(Tiko's owner and the one Tiko is protecting) is in for cardiac care, so his son lets him out back. He's not barking as much, because the son doesn't need defending. This is the perfect time for Tiko and Shamas to practice living next door to each other.

Shamas took about 2 weeks to get used to the comings and goings of our other neighbors through the fence. It's a 6foot fence, so he only sees glimpses diagonally through the slats.

Shadow has now twice - TWICE! - moved past his arch-nemesis without so much of a flicker. Yesterday evening we were at the bottom of the ski slopes (still taking walks slowly with Ginny) and just turned back for home so our backs were to the mountain, when a mountain bike arrives right by us, with a dog alongside. It happened totally without warning, my lot ran up, and I realised it was Rob and Rocky. Shit, shit, shit. Shadow was right in there, about to have a sniff. Got my whistle into my mouth and blew some random pattern ("chopsticks", I think it may have been :giggl:), and they all came flying back. WOOHOO!
Ball chases a-plenty :)

Thought this might be a one off, then another fluke, so not really brag-worthy, but now it has happened three times in less than a week, so I WILL brag! The other morning I woke up and felt by the bed for my slippers. Only one there. Called Joy to me, asked 'Where is my slipper? Find it!' She looked at me and nudged the slipper I was holding with her nose. 'Not that one!' I said, 'The other slipper! Find other slipper!' She looked at me again and I swear I could see the penny drop! Of she trotted to the landing and back she pranced with the other slipper! I made a LOT of fuss of her, but as I said, I thought it was a one off. It's happened twice more though, most recently thismorning. She's just a little bit cheeky about it now too, as if it's a small joke just between the two of us. Such a good start to the day! My clever funny girl!:inlove:

On our walk thismorning I saw a young couple with a little girl approaching. They had a King Charles with them on lead, so I called Joy to me and put her on lead. As they got closer the little dog started snarling and barking, so Joy and I scooted off into the bushes, I asked for a Sit, facing me and away from the other dog and gave her liver paste while they went past. On the way back she was off lead again and went bounding excitedly round a corner to where she was expecting me to throw her ball in the lake. Right there in her swimming spot were the people we'd seen earlier with the King Charles off lead, feeding the ducks. Of course the poor little dog was startled by the sudden appearance of Joy in full Swimmy Fetch Mode and it flew at her, snapping and snarling. The owners were yelling at it and Joy looked like she was considering having a go back. As calmly as I could I called her to me and bless her, she turned away and came to my side immediately! I was so pleased with her! I reflected that if I had just witnessed that happening to someone else I would be thinking, 'That's the kind of dog I want. ' about Joy. 'Well!' I said to myself, 'Guess what!'

Cassie has just come back from a trip to the vet for her annual vaccinations and check up. When the lovely young nurse brought her back to the car she said "oh this is the PERFECT Labrador" She's the perfect weight, has perfect teeth, a perfect coat, the perfect temperament is perfectly beautiful and in short the staff were reluctant to bring her back to me. Apparently it's very rare that she has no health advice to give the owner (feeling a little smug here:angel:)

Of course they don't need to know about the occasional eating of things I really wish she didn't and the odd mare if things aren't quite to her liking.

My perfect girl :giggl:
