Homer is such a good boy. Walking along the narrow lanes as cars come past I told him to ‘tuck in’ my own little made up command, the first few times I had to push him to make sure he was up against he hedgerow then he started doing it himself when I said tuck in then all by himself with out the command when he heard a car approaching. He’s such a clever boy.
And he’s got his Level 1 mantrailing

Two girls walking off leash, bunny about 10m away both turn to me for a treat then sit to watch the bunny turn back to me for another treat until said bunny disappears. I don't know who was more surprised, the bunny , the girls or me...

PS: don't expect same result next time...normal procedure will resume I am sure...

I really don't know what Maxx would do as he has never seen one - or any type of wild animal. Here's hoping we never have to find out!

you never know. They normally chase them and lets be honest Honey nearly had one the other day, she literally missed it by a whisker...so that would have been breakfast like @snowbunny mentioned.

I know I may be, cause both check in with me on a regular basis. I have had to work with Honey far far more than what I had to to with Vanilla, but now she just gets it. Even when we are now out walking and seeing people she is not sure about, other dogs etc. it just seems to have clicked for her.

These two first time they saw any wild animal just looked and did not move. so maybe he will do the same? Of course in the early days they look and then bolt :cwl: no chance of getting them.
But first time it happened with Vanilla I did blow the whistle and she came straight back. Now that surprised me as she was in full charge mode but turned like a stunt driver...Honey on the other hand just disappears over the hill never to be seen again for a while...she worries me more cause of native wildlife...

Molly doesn't chase rabbits (I think it's because they are silent and the local ones seem very brave and don't run, either carry on grazing or just sort of lollop slowly away) but she is a menace with birds. She goes barking crazy when the seagulls sit on our roof (our back garden slopes up steeply away from the house) and it sounds as if they are taunting her 'You can't get me, ha, ha, ha!'

I'm not sure what Chewie would do. He is really good with brush turkeys, even off lead he mostly ignores them. They often chase him though, which is hilarious.

On the other hand he is intensely interested in cats. I think as a playmate rather than as prey, but let's not find out!

Good boy young Reuben this morning . We had gone to the beach at the crack of dawn , its our local beach where the river flows through the valley , down through the beach and into the sea . Reuben had some lovely swims on the safe incoming tide , I never let him go in on an outgoing one , then we walked over to the river for him to do some retrieves . There were loads of seabirds on the river so I chucked his dummy in , and in he leapt , his entry has no finesses but we dont mind that . I was so thrilled with him , he clocked the birds but motored on to his dummy ignoring them as he swam back to me . Lots of fishy treats for my lad x

Good boy Reuben. What did you do early on @kateincornwall to introduce Reuben to the dummy? Bear seems to have no particular retrieving instinct, I've got a small puppy dummy but not sure what to do with it. He likes carrying things around but they are normally high value items like sunglasses, hats and shoes!

I`d kept a dummy of Sams , it was in my greenhouse where Reubens ball stash is , and one day he went in there and came out with the dummy in his mouth , so I didnt do anything really :giggl: I would just let Bear mouth the dummy , dont allow him to tug at it or tear at it, just keep throwing it , lots of praise if he picks it up but dont worry yet if he doesnt bring it back , theres plenty of time for that yet xx

Good @kateincornwall that you've still got somewhere you can take Reuben without being inundated with thoughtless holidaymakers. I know Cornwall is smothered, as is Devon.
We are countryside rather than coast but we have had a massive influx of visitors. A lot are good and thoughtful but there are, as usual, those eejits who think they have every right to do just about anything without any concern for the locals. Grrrrrr
I know we are holiday destinations and a lot of businesses rely on the holiday trade but surely, with the way things are now, its not too much to ask for a little consideration?

Awful to say, but, roll on winter :donttalk:
