@Cath your story about Fred made me smile 😊

My cousin has been staying with us - it’s been such a super time. I am so proud of Red - my cousin has just loved all our long walks with her. She has a friend she walks with at home who has a dog that barks all the time and doesn’t come back when it should, so their walks are often fraught. She has really enjoyed seeing Red loving life ❤

Whats the vet said Sarah @SwampDonkey
They've seen him twice and he may end up their again. He doesn't cough or retch if his neck or throat is aggravated it's just a rasping round his larynx. He's not damaged his throat that we are aware of there's nothing stuck down there they've looked. Both times he's had a temperature and he did loose his voice. He couldn't bark or growl and would pant heavily and his breathing is was noisy when galloping about. A lot has changed after his course of antibiotics he can bark and growl and is prancing about normally. His voice is not back to normal. He's not right yet but so much better, but I'm worried. I'm hoping his voice does get back to normal and he's ok again.

That's such great news @Cath , so lovely!
Seems like vets should have a Puppy in Residence for anxious dogs !
Our vet has his 2 golden retrievers lying around the reception area. They also walk in and out of his consulting room and the back surgery area and kennel holding area. The one is particularly affectionate and leans against you for strokes. They greet all the dogs and cats who come in. I love them! The vet said they make everything feel normal and are good for anxious dogs to have around.

I'm just catching up and so sorry to hear that Ivor has not been well. I really, really, really, hope the antibiotics do thier trik and he fights the virus. Sending huge big hugs to you all. Has he had some honey to sooth his throat?

Just catching up with this, having had Jet Lag for the first time in my life and now starting to get back to normal. So sorry to hear that Iver has not been well, sending love and :thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming:from GGJ and me xxx

I wondered how my lockdown affected low confidence dog would do on his first ever holiday. lots of new people places and strange people and dogs. I've been preparing him. I chose 2 new Q's and trained them for a few weeks (Rory too to refresh him). I improved leave too. So I worked on close and for obvious reason steady. Just 2 useful easy words. Close is easy to understand as I do find walking steady to get them to regulate their speed. I used both when I'm on the sticks but I applied them all over the place so they both really responded. It worked really well both in towns steep stairs and hillsides. I was so pleased with them both it was good to feel safe with such control and avoid more falls. Iver seemed so much more relaxed and seemed to enjoy new things and places. He also seemed to make more eye contact and listen. He seemed happy. I was coming down a rocky hilly path that was washed away moving from ground to rock thinking shit I never thought I'd do this again with 2 dogs in hand and no sticks. Ill never jump again and I'm slow but we did it. They know what steady boys means. Clever clever kind dogs. So if you hear some saying steady boys, good boys, like a 17 th century pirate it's us. We're coming slowly but are coming. Iver has gained in confidence and is maturing . So proud of them both
