Doggy brags

I had to bring Hugo to the vet today for an eye infection and I had to book it last minute, so no time to get any meds to help sedate him. Just a quick reminder, Hugo was over the top excited at previous vet visits so I had to give him some meds beforehand to help settle him down, but even then he was still veryyyy excitable.

So I was nervous to go there with no meds but I didn’t have a choice so off we went to the vet! Much to my surprise though, he did so well! Still was very wiggly and happy but listened very well when it was time to sit still for the eye exam, temperature etc. He even sat/laid down while the vet and I chatted instead of bouncing off the walls 😅 I got complimented by the vet and the vet nurses for how far we have come which was nice to hear. I left feeling pretty happy with our progress!

He got to take home a bandanna and looks quite grown up 🥹

What a brave boy, this is good to hear Kelsey - well done to you and Hugo for all your work on this, it must have been a horrible feeling going in unarmed but great news he didn’t struggle. Is it possible to get meds you can keep at home in case of emergencies? Maybe you’ll never need them again but I can imagine I’d find this a useful bit of psychological back up.

I meant to ask today on the way out but it completely slipped my mind. I’ll definitely ask them when they call me in a couple of days to follow up on his eye, it would be nice to have a few on hand just incase!

If it helps @Kelsey, my bounces around the surgery like a dog on crack. I then have to explain his elbows are hurting him and his limping was quite bad  Well done Hugo! Looking very smart!
Same with Rourke, he used to rush into the consulting room before even the vet and I got in, was full of vim and vigour, the moment we left the vet, he would remember that he had dreadful arthritis and could hardly walk!

It’s amazing when adrenaline full of excitement kicks in. ‘I swear, I’m not lying…’ I always take videos/photos of the issue before going in as proof now 😅 Not making a liar out of mamma this time!

I'm so incredibly proud of our two, particularly Shamu! Oreo is a dab hand at these sort of things, but this was the first time Shamu has experienced being in a hotel, and meeting lots of new people, and having new experiences.
He was excellent and I am just bursting at the seams with pride for my boy 💙
A few photos!

Coffee & Cake time - both just lay down and watched everyone that walked past. No barks from Shamu!

Rewarded by a swim in the river before we left this morning - very well deserved!
