Today we went to Lossiemouth. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we had a lovely long walk with the girls - about 2 1/2 hours, although some of that was going off track through some trees 
I didn’t get us lost though
We parked up and walked to reach a nice Sandy beach… although the tide was in so no sand to be seen
Great planning, eh mum?!
We still enjoyed the walk and I’m sure we’ll get the girls to a Sandy beach at some point.

My Mum and Dad lived in Lossiemouth, with my Dad working at the RAF base (as a navy bod) in the early days of their marriage so I have a fondness for Lossiemouth, and Elgin where I was born at Dr Gray's, and to whence they moved to a bigger married quarter.
The East Beach at Lossiemouth is stunning, but due to the footbridge being unsafe, can only be accessed by swimming (er no.....) or through the woods, which is around a 3 mile walk. We gave up on that in the end.
The girls were off lead all the time and had a ball!
There were EXTREMELY sturdy anti tank fortifications in the woods/ dunes with the concrete blocks less than a yard apart. They never needed to be used, but there is a story about spies who landed on the Moray Coast who were caught and subsequently hung at Wandsworth Prison (after a fair trial m'lud)
We sat here on a driftwood log and had lunch (and a teensy bit of sunburn!) And I took this picture about 4 times trying to get my hair NOT to look like it was cut using a bowl....

Excellent photos - what a beautiful day!
My twin cousins were born in Aberdeen when my uncle and aunt lived in Findhorn. My uncle was in the RAF, but I think he was stationed at Kinloss for two years, rather than Lossiemouth. My parents and I had a lovely week in Findhorn after my cousins were born.

The two are pretty much in spitting distance.
G and I went to Findhorn when we were up last year. It felt very "Bohemian " to me for some reason!

Wonderful photos. I think Findhorn was some 'alternative' place, had a couple of friends who were going to give up everything here and go and live in the community, there is a special word for it but I can't remember!

We headed along to Cullykhan bay first where we finally found some sand, yay!!

As the tide wasn’t too high, we walked along the rocks at the side of the beach where there were a couple of caves. This photo is looking back East along the coast to Pennan.
We then took a path higher up from Cullykhan beach to get more views - I’m sure mum knows more about this viewpoint area than I do!

Again, looking back to Pennan, and also to the beach next to where we are staying!
After the beach, we went to the RSPB nature reserve for a walk. We saw loads of gannets flying about but I think we are a little early for breeding season.
Our first “first to find” geocache! Yay

Wow, it’s so gorgeous. I love the way the village is huddled between the beach and the outcrop…has it ever gotten flooded?
