I loved these photos (again). 😍

I really don't understand how those houses have survived there, though - wouldn't one decent storm wipe them out?
Hmm, not quite sure.
But what I would say, was when we were up on the cliffs and it was blowing so hard we couldn't walk straight, it was relatively calm down at the houses. Not wind free, but much less wild.
And have you ever been in a traditional stone build house where the walls are over a metre thick? With small windows and deep window alcoves? They know how to build houses along coastlines!

Good point. It just looks like they'd be underwater (or at least a couple meters deep) in a bad storm if nothing else. But obviously they've been there a long time and look just fine, so whoever built them knew what they were doing.

My former apartment in Regensburg was in a medieval building with walls over a meter thick and it was true that if I was in the back bit without a window it was really quiet, even on New Year's Eve with the bombs going off overhead. They didn't mess around back then!
