Yes, they really are hard thinkers at times. This morning Maxx woke early, as always, and was wandering around the house looking for a crime to commit. I was vigilant and there was nothing within reach for him to steal. So I was making coffee in the kitchen which has a big window out to the back yard. I saw a yellow flash with a very large black head. He had his head in an empty plastic pot and was running with it! Before I could do anything he ran inside, dropping soil everywhere and took it to bed and happily started munching it. GAH!

Oh dear! Another traumatic day! After seeming fine yesterday, Joy looked really poorly and sorry for herself thismorning, very subdued, just lying under the kitchen table and panting. I rang the emergency vet number and took her straight in. The vet looked in her mouth and she really squealed, a heartbreaking sound. They kept her in and examined her under anaesthetic and couldn't find anything apart from the swelling at the back of her jaw that was there before. The vet says he thinks she has a condition called Temporal Muscle Myositis which is treatable with steroids. She's home now and a very groggy doggy, having been given Methadone to help with the pain. She has taken herself back under the kitchen table and I have put her bed there and helped her onto it. She's resting her head on Lambie, one of her oldest surviving toys and a great favourite. Back to the vet on Tuesday. He said he would expect her to be pretty much back to normal by then. My poor poor little sweetheart.

Oh @Candy, I'm so sorry to hear this; poor little Joy, it must be dreadfully hard for you to see her like this but thank goodness she has you to look after her. Hoping she improves very soon, and at least you know she won't be in much pain with the methadone (probably floating on the ceiling, bless her) x

Yes, she does look pretty spaced out. Think I might resort to a small gin and tonic myself, once the sun's over the yard arm. was going to save it for Christmas but it feels like desperate measures are needed!

Poor little sweetheart indeed, hopefully the medication will keep her comfy. I hope you see an improvement soon, it's rotten when they are unwell.

I'm sure you looked this up Temporal Myositis.
It sounds a little like Temporal Arteritis in humans.
I really really hope the steroids make Joy feel better xxx

Vet said same group of conditions as Rheumatoid Arthritis in humans. He's hopeful that we've caught it early and so it should be very manageable.

She's still very drowsy on her bed under the kitchen table. Looks like I'll be putting some cushions on the floor and joining her tonight. Need to be near my Best Girl!

Here I am on the kitchen floor, bedded down, glass of wine in hand ( only had one g&t) with Joy snuggled next to me. Quite like this!
