Thanks Natalie. I was actually a mental health nurse as opposed to a 'proper'nurse, but I do know a bit about abscesses. However it's still reassuring to hear about your experience with Monty. Ringing the vet again in 15 minutes. Fingers crossed.

Update from vet nurse. Joy remains more comfortable but they want to keep her in overnight to be on the safe side. If the suspected abscess appears to be responding to the antibiotics tomorrow she can come home. If not, they'll investigate further. Much as I would have liked to bring her home today, I think I feel safer knowing she's there. They have 2 qualified vet nurses on duty all night and a vet on call. I was quite frightened by her deterioration this morning. Meeting up for an hour in the pub with a couple of good friends at 6ish, then Vanity Fair, which I've been enjoying later. Probably no gin tonight!:sneaky:

Oh my goodness i’m Just catching up with this... do so hope Joy is better this morning, fingers crossed the antibiotics are working and she can come home. You must be beside yourself with worry 😔

Just spoken to the vet. Joy is now eating and drinking well but the swelling behind her eye is bigger and the antibiotics she's been prescribed don't seem to be having any effect. They're going to try different antibiotics and are also referring her for a CT scan. So worried.

So sorry Candy, I hope they can soon track down what is going on with Joy. Glad to hear she is eating and drinking, she's definitely in the right place but it's so hard without them

Thankyou everyone for your kind thoughts and good wishes. Going to pick Joy up from vet shortly to take her to Wakefield for potential CT scan. She'll then stay overnight there. Can't believe this on top of everything else this year.
