Homer is having a swallow study fluoroscopy done at the RVC. After being sick on their one and only carpeted area he was impeccably behaved and trotted off with the vet and the student vet happily after I told him that the vet would feed him. I have to hang around Potters Bar to pick him up later.

I’ve found a lovely pub in a small village near the RVC and picked up a Richard Osman book in a charity shop. Well settled for the afternoon.

He had quite a bit of liquid sloshing along his oesophagus. The horizontal line is the level of the liquid. The vet still thinks a endoscopy and a balloon to widen the lower oesophagus sphincter is an option. He’s going to discuss Homer’s case with a specialist in the US.

Homer is insisting he needs more dinner even though I have fed him and I have photographed evidence of his insides that prove the vet did feed him too. Homer is doing his best to try to tell me otherwise.

I hope it’s not too much of a wait to hear back about the balloon idea, fingers crossed that it is a doable option and helps him

Ella is very impressed. She hopes he does indeed get extra dinner today.

I forgot to add: If he goes in for surgery they want him starved for 24 hours beforehand to reduce what's left in his oesophagus. I may have to get ear plugs and ear plugs for all our neighbours.

Ahhhh Now Homer has hurt his other front leg, not the one that he was limping on two weeks ago. The pad looks a bit swollen but it’s hard to tell if it’s his foot, ankle or shoulder. I’ve tried to get him to rest but he keeps on getting up to walk around following either me or Hubby. He is still having a dose of anti inflammatory medication each day so I’m not going to rush him up to the emergency after hours vet but wait a bit and hopefully some rest will do the trick.
