Hunter has a Suspected Ruptured ACL

Hope Hunter is feeling more settled now, it’s so hard when they cant tell you how they’re feeling. Keeping everything crossed for a speedy recovery.

Poor Hunter and poor you! It's so distressing, isn't it, when our dogs are uncomfortable/ in pain?
I don't know if this is any consolation at all, but both the dogs I've had to put cones on (Solstice and Joy) did actually adapt to them fairly quickly, within a couple of days, I seem to remember. I just tried to make everything else really nice for them as compensation, so extra treats, special food, and as many cuddles as they wanted ( actually the cuddles have always been as many as they want).
I found it upsetting, of course, but they recovered well, and there was never any sign of them holding it against me,and most importantly they both made good recoveries. Hang on in there, you're doing everything right and are a wonderful hooman for a dog to have. Remember the Puppy Mantra, 'This too shall pass'.

I have a transparent cone but he was very stressed with it. The cone is quite comfy and I can easily take it off with the velcro fastening for eating and small wees. He has not pooped since Monday morning so I am quite concerned. I think he is scared. He has just settled outside our bedroom door. Obviously not settlled on the bloody expensive cool mat i bought for him!

We had a better night and he has just been checked by the surgeon . I have to keep an eye on his stitches in case they get infected. Still no poop! We are slowly getting there
You really have no idea what all your support means to us. View attachment 41962
Admittedly he doesn't look exactly cheerful, but he definitely looks better than in the previous post op. photos. Slowly but surely moving in the right direction. You'll probably feel much better once he's had a poo. (So will he.)

You are doing SO well (as is heroic Hunter - what a boy he is!). A poo will come, I remember with our experiences and others on the forum that poos can take a while after GA and surgery, there’s so much disruption the body seems to hold on for a bit while it gets other processes back up and running.
One foot in front of the other - and keep looking after your basics so you can keep looking after Hunter x

Poor Hunter and poor you @Loraseal. His little face says it all. I’m glad you all had a better night. He’s sitting nice and straight with his legs which is brilliant. I’m sure in another day or two he’ll be back to his old self and you’ll be trying to keep him calm and quiet. Just thinking does he need the cone on if your with him to keep and eye on him. When my dog’s have had stitches I’ve only put the cone on at night or if I’ve had to leave them alone. What about trying the leg of an old pair of leggings or thick tights if a full suit like Rory’s would be too warm🤔
