Odin is doing well! He is at times a real boy in puberty....he leaves his ears several times at home, do what he wants to do and won't listen. His recall is very good though, although last week with my OH not....He saw some ducks and was off leash. He went for them and swam out of side. Left my OH calling him. My OH came to a point to go and swim after him......Then all of a sudden he was back. He gave my OH a scare

When he is off leash he always comes back to check if I'm still there. Sometimes I look if he is paying attention of where I am walking by walking the op opposit direction. He always directly checks in and get a reward.

I’ll try the walking in different direction tricks. That’s a good one to keep them on their toes.

Stanley has a small sore which is a bit of a lump just above his paw pads. I hope it’s not a grass seed. It’s not bothering him at all so I didn’t notice it until now.

It was only when I washed him and rubbed him dry after he went for a full top to tail mud bath then gave me a mud bath jumping all over in excitement. It was bleeding a bit then which is why I saw it.

Is it possible that there was a tick? Finn used to get such spots after a tick bite

Could be there were a few small ticks on him. Not sure if I should take him to the vet or just spend a day or so to wait and see as its not bothering him at all.

@JES72 I would take him to the vet just in case its a grass seed and starts to travel but lets hope it is nothing, just had a scratch.

Stanley lovey chewing wood - unfortunately our furniture is made of wood. I got some bitter apple spray to save the furniture. There was a bit of a comotion upstairs and he came down with the spray in his mouth which he'd taken off my desk. I took it away from him although was half tempted to let him chew it to see if he'd learn not to take things that are not his.

I’ve noticed in the last week that Stanley’s encounters with other dogs has changed. He’s more interested in female dogs bottoms. More concerning, some other male dogs have reacted to him a bit more aggressively. He has always been very social and playful and now I see him being a lot more cautious, often freezes in a bit of a standoff and then when the other dog comes up to him he tries to get away and come to me.
He has also started trying to grab other dogs ears when he plays with them. I have taken him away as soon as I’ve seen him try to go for the ears.

Teenage hormones as well I expect? I noticed that when Hunter "started to admire the ladies" his scent must have also changed as older male dogs (mostly intact) used to do the alpha male meet and greet check. Very wise of you to stop him grabbing ears. We had that and I used to try to make it fun to be with me instead of the other dog. I used to sing/dance the back street boys "everybody shake your body" and Hunter would wiggle with me. Of course everybody thought (and still does) crazy expat dingbat dog lover!! Of course I am sure that this is not in the doggie training manual but it got (and gets) Hunter's attention. It's luckily a teenage phase and Stanley is just working out his role in his adolescent life.

There’s one year old lab who is lively and has lovely owners but Scooby has started growling with teeth at Stanley So for now we both are just staying clear When we see each other.
