Anger is a useful tool. Use the energy to plan your next move. Small claims court is good fun for putting the financial boot in. It's pretty cheap too. There's always the opportunity to send in the Bailiffs as well
I wouldn't........And of course I will deduct the amount raised by the Just Giving page xx
Neither … you could always donate the extra to a local dog charity or rescueI wouldn't........
Agree - there is also such a thing as recompense for the trauma YOU have endured as a result of this. You both have been impacted, too, and that can either be recognized as part of any small claims court action or by asking for the full amount of the vet bills.Neither … you could always donate the extra to a local dog charity or rescue![]()
No because you will have had/have expenses - all those trips to the vets/different food to tempt Nelly etc etc plus the trauma for all of youAnd of course I will deduct the amount raised by the Just Giving page xx
No, don’t do that. They owe you so much more than *just* your unexpected financial burden. As others have said, claim for the full amount. And of course I will deduct the amount raised by the Just Giving page xx

It is normally done all on line now. My OH made a claim and just filled in all the information and won.My witness has said that she will be happy to come to court , there are lots of good people, thank goodness xxx
I'm in the 'No' camp too, Kate. Claim the maximum amount possible from the guilty party and if there is anything left over I'm sure people would be happy if you gave it to the Dogs Trust or RSPCA or something like that. Don't go easy on them - they certainly haven't made things easy for you.And of course I will deduct the amount raised by the Just Giving page xx
It is because they appear to show no remorse or care towards you and Nelly and they deserve your anger.I truly want them to suffer and thats not like me at all xx
Hello Emily, you posted your post as I posted mine! We appear to be doing synchronised thinking!Absolutely claim the full amount from these sad excuses from humans. As @SwampDonkey says, the donated funds can be used for ongoing vet expenses or donations you choose.
I don’t know what is allowed in small claims, but perhaps you can even add more for future vet costs to be incurred due to the current injuries?
In any case, hopefully you feel you can use the donations immediately to ease the financial burden - you don’t need that on top of everything else. I imagine the court case will take a while. When that resolves, you can decide what you want to do with any ‘extra’ money (if indeed there is any).
