New Harness

So, we went to our local pet shop to try out some harnesses. We tried a trixie and a padded Y shaped harness (a perfect fit look alike?) but didn't feel they fitted that great. They also do the proper perfect fit but they looked quite chunky. As did the Julius range.

We had this harness at home, just from Pets at Home, so gave it a go but I'm not sure it is far enough out from Lilly's armpits. But much further and it may rub on her lumpy bit. As indicated

The depth of her chest is 72cm at the widest point which is just in front of her lump.
This harness measures 14cm from the back of the collar piece and 24cm underneath from the front ring (middle of the Y).

Any thoughts on whether this harness is good/bad/indifferent fit wise for occasional use, or if another model might be better from your experiences.
Finding it hard to assess given the lump is getting quite prominent (PS vet thinks it is just a fatty lump and we aren't at this point planning on having it removed)
Thanks.

For occasional use I think the one you have is fine. As you say it needs to be between her legs and the lump.

I have the Julius one for Homer because for him I need it to be chunky and I need the secure handle if I needed to hold on to him. He only wears it occasionally when we are somewhere new or unpredictable.
I’m now on the lookout for the perfect mantrailing harness.

My two favorite harnesses are the Perfect Fit, which ran me about $80 here in Canada and is as it describes- just Shamas's size

And this one, $40 on Amazon. I like the 2hounds design because it has the Martingale loop, which I find makes it easier for Shamas to realise when I'm trying to tell him something. The two ended training leash means that if I'm out wher he's going to be prone to panic, I have a good hold on him both at the chest and the back. For a strong, heavy dog, that's a huge benefit! I have Shamas in a Medium according to the sizing guide, and he's a the very end of it's size--I'd go Large for a Lab. If Shamas were to put a few pounds on, I'd need to buy a new one lol Shamas also has a lump, about the same place Lily does

It looks good to me @Jacqui-S. Why don't you just use it for a while and see how it goes, you can always go out and get another one if you still feel it is not right for Lilly. Sorry I am not much help, but Annie and Fred just have a lead.
