I think he’s read this thread and seen all the lovely new ones he could have.
This happened with Kipper- nothing we can think of, one day he just said he hated it. We got a new harness (the K9) which is a bit better; the last one was quite tight over the head then had to step through the front leg, quite awkward. But he’s still not a fan, so we have to pop his collar on then either put his harness on in the back of the car (absolutely fine) or at the back gate. I’m trying to desensitise it (reintroducing gradually in various environments with lots of treats & reassurance) but still got to use it on walks. Hoping the new harness will help (more lightweight, nothing over the head). Can you think of anything specific that put Pepper off?Pepper has suddenly taken a serious dislike to his harness and we’re not sure why.
I must admit I do like the look of the Copenhagen harness and they do it in Orange too!I think he’s read this thread and seen all the lovely new ones he could have.
I think we’ll work on the off lead approach with Pepper. And also vary what we do on our walks. We’ve been so focused on recall, which is now, dare I say good, that we’ve probably become a little too predictable!I taught Luna to walk loose leash without having her on leash much at all! I think it's the best way to teach loose lead walking because you can't use negative punishment when your pup isn't attached to you. It removes frustration and just makes it into the most wonderful game. Most people teach heel walking off lead only once they've conquered it on lead; I think that's back to front. Start off lead, make being with you the most rewarding thing in the world and when you put a leash on, it'll be a piece of cake![]()
