Poorly Reuben

Poor lad , I`ve been up with him most of the night , him coughing . I wondered if he had something stuck in his throat , then thoughts turned to Kennel Cough , he has been bringing up small amounts of greyish mucous but did eat his breakfast . His nose is very warm to the touch so I`ve just rung the Vet and have to take him in at 3 this afternoon . I will keep him at home until we get the verdict , Nelly seems to be alright so far . Neither of them have been really mixing with other dogs , Reubs hasnt been to playgroup since the week before Christmas , but he has met the odd dog on our walks . Poor lad , its horrible to hear the hacking cough , honey has been given xx

Poor Reuben, that’s no fun at all. Hopefully it’ll shift soon, wise to see the vet  Let us know how you get on x

Ah, poor Reuben. It does sound like kennel cough which is awfully easily caught.

Years ago, our spaniel caught it, he was 11 at the time and developed pneumonia, a superb vet only just saved him. She told us that the 'bug' can stay alive on grass that has been coughed on by another dog for as long as 3 hours and another dog comes along and sniffs and can catch it. I was shocked, I had thought there had to be actual contact with an infected dog.

Reuben's a healthy youngster so even if it is kc, he will recover well. Hugs for you both @kateincornwall

Oh dear poor Reubs, kennel cough is miserable. But he is a young fit lad and I am sure will get better soon Kate. Horrible for you though... Glad you got a vet's appointment.
