Sky

It's hard but it does happen. Often it's because of pain. The can't bend to poo it hurts and they can't react quickly enough due to stiffness and pain. I found a pain meds review often helped at times like this. You've got the problem of decreased mobility due to pain and lack of awareness of old tired muscles and nerves.she perhaps needs a better stronger pain medication. I had to do this with Doug many times we were lucky to be able to buy him more time.

I think it's hard because I've met loads of owners with the same kind of issue,. It's frightening because we think the worst but often increasing pain meds does help. It's a bad time of year for old bones too

I have no experience, and you have been given wise words above, but sending you big hugs. This can't be an easy time, but we all know you'll look after Sky as well as anyone could. It sounds like Red is taking her job very seriously, too.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We have looked at her medication and will be increasing it as of tomorrow. Will monitor her and I have already pencilled in a vet visit before the end of the month.

My neighbour came in the other evening when we were out and said she was so excited to see her, she was prancing about and after a wee in the garden actually ran inside. You get occasional glimpses of the dog she was but I suspect painful for her.

I am feeling guilty as we have a holiday coming up and she is going to the kennels with Red. The staff there are lovely and Sky has had a few day sessions and an overnighter there. I am hoping she will take it in her stride and enjoy the attention she will get there......but I am concerned.

So sorry. Thinking of you all. It’s what we all dread, watching our doggies grow old. I hope the pain meds make her more comfortable and that you can be less worried.

I know this feeling! We had this too! Euan was not well and our holidays to the USA were booked. We were there when we got a disturbing app that Euan was poorly....The dog walker who walked Euan had heard this too and decided to collect him from the kennel and took care of him. Do you have a plan what to do? Do you have someone for backup?
