The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Eeuuwwww! He vomited poo in your car? Human or animal poo? I think I would take animal poo over human poo any day. Snowie once vomited human poo in our bedroom. It was like some stranger had come and did their diarrhea at the foot of our bed. I feel for Carbon going blue with cold, but eeeuuwww, windows wide open, yes! How's your car now?

Human or animal poo?
I'm pretty sure animal poo. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was his OWN poo. We've been having a little issue (read: BIG issue) with Carbon acting even more like a canine Hoover than usual and this is the latest thing. Sigh.

How's your car now?
About to get back in it after being in a hotel overnight. Fingers crossed but I don't have much hope as the towel he vomited over is still in the car. I shook it out and folded it, but not much else I could do as we're on the road now. Can I say, "Ewwww" again?

Back on the ferry this morning and cracking open the car door wasn't nearly as noxious as I thought it would be. I don't want to think about opening that dirty towel after five weeks (the next time I'll be able to do a wash). Maybe it will bother Nadine so much while she's using my car during my stay in the US that she'll wash it before I get back. A girl can dream. ;)

Despite a teary farewell in Kinsale, our stay in Rosslare before the early morning ferry was a good one. Super dog-friendly: dog decor, on site kennels and a sign at reception that said: "Please do not allow dogs on the beds unless you use a dog blanket. Ask us for one." Wow. Also they started breakfast at 6:30am to accommodate those of us on the 8am ferry sailing. Wow again. And all that for EUR 40. I'll definitely be back.

I once again repacked last night so that now I've got everything sorted for the plane. I was a bit worried about Carbon being off his assistance dog game as he's not worked at all in the last two weeks, but this morning on the ferry he snapped to like a pro and is now laying next to me in what has officially become his spot on the Rosslare - Fishguard ferry. Good boy!

For myself, I'm already feeling a bit green and doubly glad that I passed up the full Irish in favour of yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Tablets work well for me but put me out cold for hours which will not do as after I get off the ferry I'm driving directly to the Eurotunnel (about seven hours). Luckily Carbon's official ferry spot is also right next to the WC! (y)

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to @Beanwood , for offering to drive Carbon and me to "any airport in the UK" if I needed it. For various reasons I decided driving back to Germany and flying from Munich was the best choice, but I can't say how much I appreciate Kate's offer. Also another huge thank you to @Natalie and @kateincornwall who offered to keep Carbon if I needed to go back to the US without him. I'm very glad I didn't have to take you up on it - I'd be a mess without my pup - but thank you so much for offering.

I feel so grateful to have found such good friends and good people here on MLF.

OK, that's it for me. I'm going to take advantage of the ferry wifi and get some work done, then I'll be ready for a worry-free drive to Folkestone!

You know where we are if you want a break and a run round the garden! Would love to see you and Pongo would love to see his Spanish gentleman penpal...
(I'll be here most of the day til about 5pm)
Thanks so much, Rosie. Kate offered a stop spot too. Unfortunately I need to keep going as I don't do well driving at night and want to get as much as the journey done as possible in the daylight. I will definitely be taking you up on that visit when I'm back through in January! :)

And it goes without saying that if Carbon knew I'd turned down a visit with Pongo, his reaction would be "Pfft! Bad ML!"

Maybe you can buy those nappy buckets that are used for soaking and sterilizing nappies? Soak the towel while driving. Won’t be as bad to wash when you have time. Or can you find a laundromat at your next stop?

Eight hours between Fishguard and Folkestone (not including a rest break): as the French say, I am cooked. And as Carbon says, Pfft!

However we're now safely in The Shuttle and after the hop across the Channel, our hotel is only a five minute drive. Yay!

Just remind me to never ever do this again. It was not only too long but very strange - and more than a little sad - driving right on by our usual friend stops.

Tomorrow is a longer drive day (12 hours) but then Wednesday Lufthansa will be doing the driving. Whew!

Good ideas if I was traveling at my normal pace. This time though...No time to stop, no space for a bucket and then no way to dry...it would just mold while I'm in the US. The way it is now the muck will just dry and I'll stick it in a super hot wash when I'm back. Carbon's shelter blankie will survive. :)

12 hours?
Wow, that is quite a challenge. i hope that includes regular breaks.
That's only one break, so it will probably take me quite a bit longer.

Just to explain, I actually had a normal-paced trip back to Germany then the US planned but got bad news over the weekend and changed all my plans to get to the US asap. This isn't the way I'd normally do things.
