Have you thought about getting a light-therapy lamp? Obviously it's not a remedy for clinical depression but I find it does really help the usual mid-winter blues. Mine is no bigger or heavier than a paperback book so wouldn't add much to your luggage and the light quality is uplifting - it somehow makes the whole room brighter. I have it on in the mornings to get me going. x

Hola todos!

I had my last walk with my tiny Chihuahua friend, Miss Fine, today. She and her ML are going to the big city tomorrow to spend Christmas with Fine's Oma and Opa. Aunty @Boogie knows all about Omas and Opas. I think there are sausages involved, which means that Omas and Opas are the best!

ML and I are working hard to get ready for our big drive to Reuben land. I will be sad to leave Regensburg, especially as lately some nice person is putting bread crumbs down everywhere on the streets for me to eat, but I will be so happy to see all my Eeeenglish friends. Maybe we will only see them outside or from a distance because of this COVEED thing, but they will be close and that makes this Spanish Gentleman happy.

ML got news today that we can go straight into our big house in Cornwall when we arrive. Oh que bien! How good! That means lots of pillows, sofa cuddles and my very own garden. Vale, ok, I would have gotten that anyway, but now we get it three days earlier! ML says that because we are driving straight through, all we will do is sleep for three days when we get to our Cornish home.

I do not understand what is so tiring about driving. I lay on my special pillow and gaze out the window. Sometimes I have a siesta. What is so difficult about that? Sometimes ML is a little too dramatic, no?

Por fin, finally, I want to mention that yesterday was a little bit of a sad day, but a little bit happy too. Sad because it was the anniversary of both Brogan's and Duncan's passing over to the Rainbow Bridge. Brogan and Duncan are my brothers who took care of ML before I showed up to take over. It is also a happy day because ML tells me about them and how special they both were. And because I get extra cuddles and kisses and ML tells me how special I am too. It does not matter that it has been five years since Brogan is no longer in his fur and 18 years for Duncan. We special dogs never leave our Mama Ladies, everyone knows that, de verdad?

Now we look forward to Christmas, where we take a Christmas walk and I get my present. I am not supposed to know about my present, but ML is no good at all with secrets. Also I am pretty certain that she is as excited about my present as I am. I will tell you all about it after the big day!

Until then, everyone have a very happy Christmas, hug your fur pups close and remember those best of friends who are still with us in spirit.

Con mucho amor,

Carbón, tu cabellero español

Oh Emily, I love it
I'm very relieved that Flea not only survived but still squeaks. That's a tough Flea! I would have been in the dog house BIG TIME if I somehow injured Carbon's second in command. Poor Carbon kept staring at him yesterday as he was drying on the shelf like, "Gentleman dog or no, I am taking you OUT, ML, if one antenna on Flea is harmed!"

Or for Princess Bride fans:

"My name is Carboncito Bandito. You killed my Flea. Prepare to die!"

Amigos, I have been wanting a Batty friend ever since ML got one for me ages ago but then rudely gave it to an idiotic little ball of fluff who did not appreciate it AT ALL. I hated that little ball of fluff and told him so: grr, grr, grroar!

Can you believe that the ugly rude ungrateful little thing had invaded my friend Reuben and Nellie's house? My poor Aunty @kateincornwall . I tried my best to scare him away, but ML kept stopping me and telling Aunty Kate how embarrassed she was. Of ME!! Those were the early days before I had ML better trained as she is now, but it is still hard to understand.

Thank goodness Aunty Kate got rid of that horrible squishy thing and instead made the best home for my wonderful friend Reuben. I do not want to ask, as I am a Spanish gentleman, but I hope that Reuben gave that rude fluff ball a serious telling off and sent him packing without dinner!

Pfft!

Where was I? Oh si, my lovely new Batty friend. I love him. ML and I watch videos in bed about bats just like him in Australia. I wanted to name him Walter, after the most famous batty in the world, but ML says that Cookie Man's name is Walter so that would just be weird. No comprendo nada: I do not understand anything. Cookie Man's name is Cookie Man, not Walter. Anyway, welcome to the crew, As-Yet_Unnamed Batty friend!
