Weeeeeee! I got to surf on the Danube today! ML finally kept her promise to do some German surfing, even though she warned me that there are no waves. At first I thought it would be boring and tried to stay on the river bank and rip up my tennis ball instead. Si, si, that is muy divertido, very fun. Then ML tossed my ball into the water just a little bit from the shore and I waded in to my delightful knees and got it out. Pfft! Still aburrido, still boring, I thought. Then she threw it a little further and I got to do some real swimming. Vale, ok, that was less boring but still: after a two meter high Cornish wave has smacked you in your gorgeous face, you really have a higher standard of thrills.
Pues, but THEN...ML used the stick thing to throw the ball a few meters into the river. I jumped in with great enthusiasm, but when I bobbed back up, my ball was travelling down the river away from me FAST. Really fast! I swam faster and faster and pretty soon I was being pulled along the river too. The water is very high at the moment and I do not remember it being quite this exciting the last time I swam here. ML started to hop up and down on the river bank, but I was determined to get MY BALL. Finally I caught up with it and saw ML running along the river bank waving her arms. It was a little hard to swim to shore and I got to a place that was not exactly where I went in, but WEEEEEEEEEE that was muy divertido, very fun! Vamos ML, let us do it again!
We did do it again, but ML did not throw the ball quite as far. I still had some very good swimmies - we cannot call it surfing as sadly there are no waves - and I met a couple new doggie friends too. I got to wear my purple coat when I got home and I had a good nap all afternoon. Nothing better than a siesta after a swim.
Tomorrow my amiga Fine ("Feena") is coming to stay with us for the day and she has a heart problem so we will have a gentle day with no swimmies. I am sure I will again conquer the mighty Danube soon - ojala!
