Finally made it there! The whole place smelled like wonderful food - fish, Italian, bakeries. It's very pretty too, but I'll remember Looe as where we met Lexi and the best smelling town in Cornwall!
Hey, I haven't seen a Rottweiler up close for over four years and that's a long time to be deprived of my first love. Carbon is lucky I didn't try to kidnap Lexi and hide her under the duvet with him.Oh ML how could you?![]()
The answer is no (if they rented on the open market vs as a favour to their parents, the price could likely have been higher than what we agreed upon), however I do think it will be mainly finished. He was putting the wifi in on Friday and said he was planning on doing the fence this past weekend. The fence was the last thing and I already told them that while the fence would be lovely, it wasn't essential if they didn't have time. If they have prioritised the fence over things like the sink, stove, furniture, doors, etc., I will be very surprised. But you never know really! If the garden shed is unfinished, would they be willing to lower the price?
OK, that puts it all into perspective, thank you!And at least you don’t have to leopard crawl under giant spider web to get through the gate, as we did!!
Ah the memories of Byron. One of my best friends married into a VERY wealthy Italian family (sadly long divorced). During the big pilots strike in the 80's Steve and I and 9 friends had booked a trip on an ex Sydney to Hobart Yacht in the Whitsundays but we ended up having to make the massive drive as we couldn't fly. My friends hubby said we could stay in his parents 'holiday house' in Byron as a stopover. Oh dear Lord - it was a 12 bedroom mansion up in the hills with both an indoor and outdoor pool and I can't describe the furnishings. It made me realise just what the mega wealthy really have. He (the hubby) was so down-to-earth we had no idea just how much money his family had. Sadly my friend saw not one red cent in the divorce but hey, that's life.If the garden shed is unfinished, would they be willing to lower the price?
Reminds me of when a friend and I drove up to Byron Bay (popular Australian beach town) and started looking for affordable accommodation on arrival. So of course we were desperate! I can’t remember the fancy name of the place that we stayed in—sounded luxurious! It was the house garage. We kept reminding ourselves that at least it was clean and safe and had its own bathroom! And at least you don’t have to leopard crawl under giant spider web to get through the gate, as we did!!
My daughter got married in Byron Bay on the beach. Sadly we couldn’t go but we had a massive party when they got home. It was just the two of them and two close Aus friends. They had a wonderful day - my favourite photo is of them at the lighthouseAh the memories of Byron.
It's a different world! I did an exchange with a French student from Paris when I was at university. When I went to work in Paris after graduation, we were able to spend quite a bit of time together. She and her mother lived in the typical tiny Paris flat, but her father (long since divorced from her mother) was the minister of mines and oil for Gabon. He also had a flat in Paris - no one lived there, it was just for when he, his wives (he had 4 by that point) and his other numerous children would crash when they went on shopping trips to Paris. She and I stopped by one day to meet a few of her cousins who were in town for a few days (again, as you do when you have your own plane). No idea how big that apartment was as it went on and on and on and on. I didn't even know you could still call it an "apartment" when it was that many rooms! It made me realise just what the mega wealthy really have.
That's the most easterly point of mainland AustraliaThey had a wonderful day - my favourite photo is of them at the lighthouse
Ha, my former landlord just came back to me with the price the owner wants for the month of June. The price he suggested to her I would have bitten on - a little out of my league but do-able. What the owner asked for was not what my former landlord suggested, however, and is out of my league. It's a decent price considering that the house is three bedrooms with a private garden and shared pool, but for one person it's just above my "maybe" range and into "don't be stupid". I might do it as a splurge, if it wasn't a 4 day drive down and another 3 days back to Germany - that's a lot of petrol in the TARDIS, plus nearly a week of hotel costs just for the drive.Oh go on, you know you want to![]()
