It's been too warm here even to let Joy and Loki have their paddling pool game today. I walked her at 5.30 am again and sat in the shade in the garden with her until about 10.00, then it was inside in the shade and the cool for the rest of the day. Too hot under paw to do any walking at all, but she has enjoyed being spritzed with the plant mister thing that I've kept in the fridge, even rolling onto her back so I could do her tummy! Should be cooling down tomorrow I think, although she really doesn't seem to have been particularly bothered by the heat, has just stayed in the shade and taken it all in her stride.

Every now and then, after a particularly good holiday somewhere hot and lovely I think ' How would it be if I went and lived there?' Quickly added to this is 'How would.....(whichever dog I have at the time) cope?' Well, I think that as long as there was somewhere she could go to keep cool, particularly if we were near the sea, Joy would be absolutely fine! She's been so sensible today, bless her and now that it's cooler we are both out enjoying the garden. I feel like I could probably take her anywhere and she'd be OK! ....I'm not going to though, these little dreams are all very well, but we're probably best off here!

Wow! That's a big difference! It's still 27° here, but there's a little breeze and it's really pleasant.

I thought we might be going to have a storm earlier, but the air has cleared a bit now so I've had to water the garden. I've been trying not to, but everything has looked so thirsty and sad.

36 today here outside, but I’ve managed to keep the house about 10 degrees cooler downstairs - still too hot though.

Now I’ve got my little grandson here for a sleep-over (my DiL may/may not have gone into labour and the baby’s a week overdue) and I’m sitting upstairs with fans on and doors and windows open, trying to get his room cooler. He’s fast asleep and not bothered, but I think it’s too hot.

The leading story on our news this morning was the heat and fires in England and Scotland. Somewhere near London hit 40 degrees and broke all records. I'm glad it is going to cool down for you tomorrow (Wednesday)

It was so cold here yesterday my hands were little blocks of ice when I took Maxx for a quick walk

It’s 26° here, normally too hot for me but it feels cool!

Fond farewells to Mr Boogs as he set off on his epic bike ride. It starts in the car + Eurotunnel then on to Heidelberg for a couple of nights then train to Munich.

I envy him the company (our sons) but not the bike ride - Munich to Verona over the alps. Mostly too hot with a bit of too cold thrown in!

@Boogie, that is an impressive bike ride, I do hope the weather will have cooled for him and your sons by the time they start from Munich, an amazing adventure and feat of strength and commitment.

The rain has finally gone and mad Maxx is enjoying following the gorgeous winter sunshine around. I only have a thin jumper on and it is July!
