Meanwhile, in Spain, the storms hitting our area are pretty brutal. I’m glad we’re not there, albeit our house and land appears more protected than many. This is a before and after picture of the Ebro Delta, one of only three regions in Spain to have a Protected Designation of Origin for rice production.
Wow, that is impressive. I looked up Cadiz and apparently it's 20 degrees and sunny this week: I guess so far eastern Spain is getting the brunt of it?

In any case, I'm grateful to be in Cornwall. There's been a lot of rain but I expected that. The rare sunny day like today is amazing.

 to our Australians - it just seems to be getting worse.

I don't often watch TV (busy with the girls and other things) but OH started watching 'The Commons' on Stan (OK binge watched it and now finished) streaming service. It is rather chilling when watching it, the little bit that I did watch given what is happening down under and then of course the rest of the world too. Found an article about interview with Rupert Penry-Jones (https://www.smh.com.au/culture/tv-a...-keep-you-awake-at-night-20191213-p53jrk.html). Interesting given that it is only set 7 years from now...and some things already exist...or have been ignored taking into account the Acid rain in Germanies Industrial area in 70's/80's that when real bad people would have to have a shower. I know it existed in other countries too, but it was always publicised more from Germany...

It's been very windy here tonight. Severe gale warnings, potentially winds up to 70mph. I have heard the unmistakable sound of the wheelie bin scooting across the drive on its side numerous times. Kind and relatively new to the area neighbour keeps moving it back for me, bless him. I did take pity and tell him to just leave it as it would just keep happening and the worst it can do is end up against his wall. Poor boy is now worried if we're all safe. 'These houses are built from Yorkshire Stone and have coped with winds like this since 1876' I told him. He still looked bothered. On nights like this Trevor used to say that we lived on Gale Terrace, not Dale Terrace. Joy and I are ever so snug by our stove, listening to the wind and having ear rubs! Bring it on! (As long as we're safe inside)

@Anne123 I think just about the whole of the UK is going to experience storm Ciara this weekend. We have done our walk, got the shopping in, the generator is charging and now all snuggled up inside. xx
We did our walk too as we are in the woods right now. We will be returning home early tomorrow morning, just before (I hope) the storm sets out. Otherwise we stay here. No fun driving in the storm....How my oh will return to work on Monday then we’ll see

The wind is picking up here now, so I have been out in the garden making sure that anything that can be fasted down is so . We`ve been told to expect wind speeds of 80 mph , and not to go to the coast as many areas will be flooded due to spring tides right now . The fishermen are all putting extra ropes on their boats in Looe harbour . We`re also told to expect power cuts so I will fill a flask with boiling water tonight , cant do without my coffee in the morning xx

It's getting pretty gusty here too. I've put big lumps of stone on whatever I can to stop things blowing over and brought the hanging bird feeders inside so they don't end up in the canal. I think we're 'only' expecting winds of 70mph, being inland and I don't know about power cuts but I can always dig the camping stove out if need be. Joy and I are going to sit by the stove and watch easy mindless Saturday night TV! Hope everyone stays safe and @Boogie's flight is OK tomorrow.:fingers::thelambiesarecoming:
