People are waaaay over dressed today. I walked outside with just my t-shirt on and said to mum “oh I love being able to come out with just a T-shirt and no jumper” then we proceeded to go to swimming with the girls and saw lots of people, all wrapped up in big jackets, hats, scarves.... it was 8°C and sunny!
You went swimming when it was 8 degrees outside? Or (hopefully) you meant you watched the girls swimming? :scared:

Either way, 8 degrees is about as cold as it gets here in winter first thing in the morning. Brrrr

Yes we watched. It is inside swimming, and they have a cosy log burner too.
To say we watched, I mean we stayed outside the pool, though I walk up and down with Lilly (and her "carrot" of cheese to get her to swim) and sophie shampoos and dried Oreo whilst Lilly finishes off and gets her pampering 😀

My nursing friend regularly swims off the beach in St. Andrews all year round though they DO have wetsuits in winter.

I have a friend who is into wild swimming
The lady we rented the cottage from on the Norfolk coast last year is a wild swimmer - in the sea. She appeared in the back garden to say hello in her cape after her swim. I then saw a group of people out the front in their capes. They were chatting animatedly and drinking their coffees. I sensed a real camaraderie amongst them......but I’d never be tempted to join them 🤣

Yes, they seem to have great fun! Sam is often out swimming in a cossie and wooly hat!!! I don't think she's overly fussed what type of water it is :D

Here's a post she made a couple of years ago about how she got into it.

It is the first day of Autumn and we are saying farewell to summer with a glorious sunny day and 33 degrees. A change is coming though and the rest of the week is low to mid twenties. We were pondering our summer in the pool yesterday; we normally get weeks and weeks of temps in the 30s but this year barely a handful. On the news last night they confirmed it was 9 degrees cooler than average and wetter than normal too.

Spring for you all in the NH when you wake up tomorrow!

@Lab_adore Not sure if you can get it but may I suggest David Attenborough's Perfect Planet - Humans which was the last in a 5 part series. Seriously worrying about the change in weather causing ever increasing fires, floods, death of oceans, Amazon forest destruction, displacement of animals, extinction of species, use of fossil fuels. We are running out of time if we haven't already :'( xx

I only have vague memories of the 1987 storm, I had a two year old and a baby so maybe I was a bit oblivious.

I won’t forgive the Beast from the East for taking our beautiful Rowan tree from us ‘tho.

It was blowy last night here and still is this morning. It means the clouds are moving fast so we do get welcome sunny spells.

I am awaiting calls from my dermatologist and doctor. Neither has given a time, just the date - so I’m stuck in. I hope they don’t ring at the same time. 🤔
