Walked Joy round to Jason and Sofija's this morning to see if they needed any help after being flooded. Sofija had gone to work, it was her first day of a new job and she felt that to miss it would not be a good start, flood or no flood. Jason's mum and stepdad were there. They are both lovely but Ted is now in his eighties and has a heart condition so couldn't do much apart from fetch sandwiches and coffee and Jason was having to spend a lot of time on the phone trying to get the electricity turned back on, so I finished Joy's walk, took her home then returned with rubber gloves. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as last time, partly because there was about 3 feet less water than last time and partly because this time they knew what to expect so were better prepared. Between us we'd got it clean and habitable again in around 3 hours, so not too bad. Also this time the local sewage plant didn't flood

so no

. Ted kept us all amused by singing rain related songs and reminded me of an old favourite that I'd forgotten, 'Into each life some rain must fall'. I've found myself humming it for the rest of the afternoon. So it could have been worse, and it was quite a satisfactory day. Also Jason says that he owes me at least one glass of wine on Friday.

Just hoping for no more heavy rain for a while.
