Storm Dennis on his way apparently! I really feel enough is enough, but that has very little to do with the Climate Change disaster that I fear is upon us. Sorry for the gloom, it's not like me, but I can't help thinking 'What have we done?'

@Candy that was so kind to help with the flood clean up. It just looks so horrible up there. :(

We haven't been out in the car or really outside much at all since Saturday. I take Carbon out for a wee in the garden and he immediately turns back in - smart dog! But even I am going a bit stir crazy. In addition to work, we've gotten lots of SD training done and I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and learned how to mend my jeans, so there's that!

I had a meeting with my boss today who is in Cannes and tried to describe the storm as it was happening. Because this house has so much glass on the backside and that's where the weather hits, sitting on the sofa and looking out is l like going through one of those drive-thru car washes. You can't even see out, the rain/sleet/hail is hitting the glass so hard. My boss said, "Isn't that just normal for England?". Um, no. Very "Cote d'Azur" stereotype of England, though. :sneaky:

I'm glad I copied the locals and shopped on Saturday like the Zombie Apocalypse was coming: it's staying in and cozy time for sure.

Yes, I also have taken to doing a spot of Apocalypse stocking up for days when a dog walk is all the going out I intend to do.Lt never used to be like this, honestly! That's what worries me.

I so agree. There will be at least 3 days of high winds at the weekend. We have a lot of really old trees and I am actually now scared of walking under/near them. Most have small branches off them but some has large branches off. These weather conditions can only be weakening them.

A dog walker was killed yesterday in another part of the country by a branch falling off a tree

It's just cold today. Cold on the wind (which has abated for now...until Dennis arrives). The boat was cancelled again yesterday.

Awful. I steer clear of the woods when it's windy - we have very shallow-rooted plantations. Not safe, but it's impossible to avoid driving through trees, it makes me rather nervous.

I'm so glad Carbon and I took advantage of the lull yesterday and got out for a full three hour walk. It rained a bit along the way but not bad at all. Now all night and right now, the rain is hitting the windows so hard that it once again sounds like the whole house is going through a drive-through car wash. I'm very grateful to have the lovely, cozy, sturdy and (for me) BIG house so we can do lots of things indoors.

I'm just hoping Dennis gets these storms out of way by the time I fly to the US. I am NOT getting on a propeller plane from Bristol to Dublin if the weather is like this.
