Weather

I'd say it's unusual for us in the Midlands to have it in November - we had 1-2 cm yesterday which settled and is still here today. Though I do remember early December 2010 where we had more than that and it lasted for days and days.

It's been snowing here in Regensburg (Germany) all day. Just sticking the tiniest bit, but coming down in big wet chunks and (for here) windy. Carbon hates rain but doesn't seem to care about snow. I'm the opposite - I don't mind most rain but hate getting big gloopy flakes on my face that then melt and dribble down into my scarf. Ew.

This is earliest we've had snow since I've been in Germany. I REALLY hope it gets it out of its system and doesn't snow a bunch when I have to drive again on 1 January. The TARDIS is NOT snow-friendly, plus as a native Californian, I am a menace driving in ice/snow. 😳

Have you got your winter tyres on the Tardis?
Just windy and coldish here!
The TARDIS has all-weather (M&S/mud & snow) tires. I don't have the capacity to store summer and winter tires like most Germans, so I go with the all year round option, which admittedly isn't the best. I've driven on ice before and it was like I imagine driving on an ice rink would be.

Happily for me - and likely NO ONE else in Regensburg 😂 - the snow turned to rain last night and today is just the normal grey gloom that Regensburg is famous for. It's depressing, but at least I can walk (or drive) without sliding!

Next time you're looking to replace your tyres, give me a shout. We use all-weather Michelins that are designed primarily as winter tyres, then the "all weather" part added to that, which is the opposite to how they're normally made. Our tyres actually out-perform most dedicated snow tyres and are also great in the wet. They have the snowflake symbol on them, meaning they're approved winter tyres for when snow equipment is mandatory. When we get new tyres and there's snow, we always head to a big open car park (out of hours!) and throw the cars around in it to see how they perform. These ones are by far the best we've had - which is actually kinda boring when you're trying to get the car to slide :giggl:

I can't remember the exact model they are off the top of my head, but J knows, so I can find out if you're interested for your next upgrade.

We’ve got all-weather tyres on our Passat, OH thought they were ideal for Scotland. I think we’ll probably get the same again next time as rural Norfolk isn’t exactly known for its gritting regime.

The sun has come out and the skies are blue and it is 26 degrees. Perfect day for a big family get-together/pool party.....except it is Friday and the party is on Sunday where the forecast is cloudy, possible rain and a cool 21 degrees. Soooo disappointed. They haven't been here for 2 years and everyone was looking forward to lots of swims. Oh well, nothing we can do and the forecast might be wrong :fingers:
