This was our cul-de-sac after the ice melted, than froze again, and another thin layer of snow was added. That’s my van in front of my house. There is no way in/out of the cul-de-sac except across this expanse of ice when I’m going for a walk. The sidewalks are literally skating rinks. I strapped my ice grips on and went for a couple very slow and tentative walks yesterday. Sometimes I just walked on the road, as at least it is gravelled in some places. Yesterday the town put gravel down on the cul-de-sac, hooray! We went for a careful walk again this AM. People have put salt/grit down in lots of places but where they haven’t, it’s just awful. Simba’s feet were slipping out from under him even on a very slow and steady walk. For the most part he walked on the lawns were there is snow or we walked on the road. I’m heading out now to go on the trails. It should be better there as there’s no flat concrete underneath but I’m still taking my grips as where the snow is packed down from people walking it will be icy.
I don't know how you do it! I feel off balance just looking at all of that ice 😱

That would be my nightmare @Lisa
I just cannot walk on ice. Granted I don't have proper icegrips, and having tried those ones you put on over your shoes that are sold in the UK, I am still no better.
I went to local woods last year after a period of thaw/freeze/thaw/freeze and despite the paths being hard earth with pine needles/leaf rot they were absolutely lethal.
I am at the stage where if there is ice on the roads/path. Lilly and I just make do without a walk.
Of course, we don't normally have 6 months of your kind of winter Lisa.
Keep cosy and safe.

Yes that’s the trouble. You just have to get on with it, here. We don’t have freezing rain all winter, but we usually have a bout or two of it at some point in the season. Then we get ice again in the spring with the freeze/thaw cycle. I’m ever so glad of a dry, clean sidewalk by the time it’s all over!

Yikes, @Lisa that just looks horrible. I'm with @Jacqui-S , ice freaks me out because I can't seem to walk on it. When it's icy here, I have no shame about standing in my doorway and just letting Carbon have a wee lead-distance away from the door. Luckily it doesn't happen much, or my neighbours would really hate me!
