Yep I remember it happening on a few occasions when I was a kid
Yes. Back in the 1980s the daughter of the head gardener on a large estate locally wrote her memoirs of her childhood in the 1930s and 1940s. Her father was unwell and she wanted to distract him from his illness, so she wrote more than sixty pages of wonderful descriptions of life and work in the park, beginning with ‘Long, hot summers…’.

Looks like we’re going to get very little rain in this corner of Norfolk, the sun is already trying to break through.
Thankfully it’s a lot cooler and less humid today, much better, especially as I’m making chutney.

We have had the most glorious summer I can remember in a long, long time. Beautiful sunny days one after the other. After a very rainy and soggy June, July and August have been spectacular. Yes it’s been hotter than usual but I don’t mind. Just loving it!! I would love to bottle up a day or two and open it up in January/February when it’s -30

Yes, I can see that. I don't know how you manage to get through the long, snowy winters. I suppose it is what you are used to. I hate the dark nights, could cope with winter if it stayed light until 7pm.

No rain here (yet) luckily I have a waterproof Labrador and a doodle who doesn’t mind Wet-from-Above at all and loves puddles. So no persuasion needed to get them out. My raincoat (Paromo) is thirty years old and still completely waterproof.

(His dad is a poodle so it’s no surprise Ted loves puddles. Etymology - poodle — [po͞od′ l] n. [Ger pudel < LowG pudel(hund) < pudeln, to splash (akin to PUDDLE) + hund, dog: see HOUND1] any of a breed of dog with a curly coat, usually clipped in one of a variety of patterns.)

Mr Boogs is off on a golfing weekend in Lincolnshire, I hope it holds off for them.
